Sacramento's there too
I'm surprised no one else has said anything. I think it's very well done. Perhaps you're right that it's too easy, I don't have any suggestions for that other than maybe making US units more expensive than CS ones, and probably giving the Rebs Sun--tzu (As the Virginia Military Institute), so that they promote faster, which would make pretty good sense.
Do you plan on updating this more? I think you said in the other thread you were burnt out from it.
For the events, I'd definitely suggest giving messages when the 4 leader units die (also you could maybe give General Gordon to the Brits, he didn't fare well in the book, but he had a reputation). Maybe some messages for the first time a Gatling wins in battle, and perhaps some bonuses when major cities are captured?
Maybe I have some more suggestions too, I'll keep playing

@our_man
Please check your PM. Some idiot has posted on my Bermuda Triangle thread at CFC/civ2/General Discussions something to the effect that you have taken credit for his work.

@ fairline
Yes. What Mondas did was to make a How Few Remain trilogy under the name Timothy Fowlkes, where the first scen took place at the same time as our_man's.
Mondas' scenario is a stock Civ2 scen where the only thing changed from vanilla Civ2 graphics files is the UNITS file. . . . no tech tree, research or events.
By contrast, in our_man's scen, every graphics file is custom designed and there is a tech tree, research and events.
IMHO, there is absolutely nothing in Mondas' scen that any self-respecting designer would want to plagiarize. It's pure boilerplate Civ2.
What bothers me a lot in all this is that, once it was established that it was groundless accusation of plagiarism, the moderator at CFC did nothing about it except close the thread after your post.

Gentlemen, why don't we put this one to bed?
Since I first saw it, I've considered part of Case's sig to be the ultimate wisdom.
quote:
Arguing with anonymous strangers on the internet is a sucker's game because they almost always turn out to be - or to be indistinguishable from - self-righteous sixteen year olds possessing infinite amounts of free time

That's who we're dealing with. If anyone downloads both scens, they will see that the only similarity is in the titles. Mondas has apologized. Let's leave it at that and get back to what we enjoy about Civ2 and this forum . . . designing, doing artwork, playing etc.
Personally, I'm grateful that this thread has changed two anonymous names into two live Glaswegian students. Best of luck to both of you.
