The Astral Wizard's site was the place to go for HOMM2 & HOMM3 maps and strategy back in the day, but I think that closed down. I remember hurridely dling all the maps I think I'd need.

Have you tried Google or the official website, which I think had links to fan sites? If you're still having problems, PM me, and I can send over some of the better maps I dled before the Astral Wizard went offline.

Are you talking about HOMM3 maps/scenarios...

I can send you a lot if you like- I downloaded all the good ones from Astral Wizard.

H3Trio was also a great source, but they went down... Celestial Heavens hosts their maps now, but they're horrible for downloading
-
here's some links:

My site: http://home.att.net/~tivoligardens/martello.html

Try Lt Hunter's Good v. Evil 1, it's a fairly interesting fighting map. Also, my "Shellost" is an amazing map (I think I've quashed 80% of the problems- and you could be a great playtester )

The Angellic Alliance is also awesome.

And Noveno Cycle 5 is fun, though sort of hard... it's a race against time!

-
Then check out my links section and see what sites still exist
-
then: make certain to visit Map Haven: http://heroes.mycomport.com/maphaven.html

and this site:
http://members.lycos.co.uk/Heroes3/index.html

scrowe made some of the best Homm maps.

Hmm... not that I can remember- although the good v. evil maps by lt. hunter feature them quite prominently, should you so wish to play as them.

personally I hate Necromancers- I love towers and strongholds and infernos...

though in the Angellic Alliance epic you will fight a necropolis. (The boss battle)

My best maps are probably:
1. Angellic Alliance
2. Noveno Cycle 5 (could flipflop wiht angellic alliance- but it's more of an adventure than a strategy map)
3. Shellost (if I ever finished playtesting it, it could be #1 )

Duncan's maps are simply too hard for me

and for some reason, I get impatient with maps that have a lot of text and just do click through- thereby missing hints to how to play

The best maps are scrowe's... Hail to the King is one of my favorite maps.

Cattleman/fiery phenix also made an amazing map in "Pen and the Sword" though I still have yet to beat it (despite playing it 3 times... I just have no idea how to beat it)

"Time of Testing" is also pretty neat. You get massive armies... If you have trouble escaping the chasing heroes, don't worry- it is possible to win- it took me about 20-30 tries to get it right, but it IS possible!

and be certain to search for hidden paths!

The Heroes of Might & Magic III collection (with the expansions) is surely one of the best gaming buys available today.

For sheer gameplay value (17 campaigns; 125 scenarios; random map generator; editors; plus all the user scenarios available), it is a must buy.

If you like turn-based fantasy games that will give you limitless gameplay for years to come, then this is a game to own.

The game has strategy, personality, great music, unique-looking cities, and chess-like battles that you control. . .

And best of all?

The collection has low computer system requirements and can be bought at a very low price. . .

Timothy Duncan, YAY. He made Last Hope and all of It's sequels for HOMMII, probably one of the best map makers. I was reading some ones top ten maps list, Goldheart was number 2 and Sander's Folly was number 1. I really need to get HOMMIII... maybe my friend will let me have his so I only have to buy the expansion(s)... Is the expansion SOD worth getting or should I only get AB? But if I can't get my friend's copy I will just get the HOMMIII Complete, so I won't have to worry about that...

What you talking bout the collection at very low price? when I checked amazon it was the price of a new game... though if I find it somewhere cheaper (I only use amazon to check prices, best buy or gamestop for buying ) I'd definatly buy it and not ste... I mean "Borrow" my friend.

Edit: Wow it has really good graphics, I have forgotten since the last time I played it with my friend, though the creatures don't seem to have as much personality as in HOMMII.

I did some checking, and it seems the complete collection is getting harder to find. So supply and demand is driving the price up.

Amazon has only ONE new copy left. Other sites such as Chips & Bits have NO copies left.

I fear if people don't grab the complete series now, it simply won't be available anywhere soon (especially since 3DO closed its doors).

That's a heck of a deal

Over the years two games that have never left my hard drive are Heroes of Might & Magic III collection and Civ2 MGE.

They have become true game classics. . .

There is just something unique about both games, which few newer games seem to be able to capture. . .

Have fun!

Ubisoft is reissuing HOMM III Complete, I believe... at least in Europe (Scandinavia, France) so far.

HOMM III and Civ II are two of the best games ever made... I can only wish that I had purchased HOMM II back in 1994 when I first saw it, instead of waiting until dec 2002 to puchase HOMMIII! It was well worth it. I played all the heroes chronices games and beat them all, then purchased the game!

So far I think the Heroes III series of games is still the best of the bunch in almost all categories.

And the AI is definitely no slouch. It has whupped my butt on many occasions. . .

Hard to believe how 3DO, et al could ruin such a beloved game series. . .

My daughter and I have been playing HOMM3, no expansions. but she isn't that good of a player and when we played a game with the AI controlling the third player, he came along and kicked her but on the All For One map.

I was wondering if there's any good two player maps out there we can play on. there was on;ly one with vanilla HOMM3.

Last Hope was not hard, but THUNK! was the best scenario I have yet to play.

There is only one other map that has given me an equivalent amount of trouble, and that is the Jester in HOMM 1.

How many times did the Jester laugh at me...

Another scenario that I found hard is Pyramid. You start with one city against an opponent with 1, and opponent with 2, and opponent with 4, and a secluded Dragon wizard with 8 :eek cities, if I remember correctly. You could lose just at the end even if playing everything else correctly.

Both released on the 30th of last month so its hardly coincidental.
