Yup, I'm happy to do this by e-mail.
We could easily guarantee to do all our turns in a 24 hour period, I reckon.
What you have to do is get the civ who's turn it is to open up the .net save as an MP game and have their turn (finbar);
Then, at the end of his turn he DOESN'T hit return;
Press the "alt" or "option" key and save it;
Quit out and send the save to the next civ and then keep going in the correct sequence between all the players, ie:
finbar
Deity
makeo
hydey
AHorse
I think this is the correct order?
The AI will change a few production orders along the way but you can just accept this as another wildcard part of the challenge
When you get it put the save in your main civ2 folder, play the turn as if it was live and save straight away without hitting enter. Ignore any negotiations the AI might do for you when it's being played on another civ's puta. All negs should be thru icq or the forum.
So, if hydey sees that I've cancelled my alliance with him then just ignore that.....

The AI's involvement is minimal in the e-mail game.
AH wants to start a small world new game online.
makeo moved to e-mail in our last big game when turns took forever and the AI changed none of my orders but did change one or two of his.
On balance I think I'd like to spend my online time with newer faster games but I will go with a vote here.
What say hydey and makeo?

Look, I'll go with the flow on this - if someone sends me the save I'll play my turn and send it on. If they don't then obviously I won't
But I think as a live game this one is only viable with a timer on. I don't know why people are so opposed to the timer - its a good discipline and we can be flexible about it - say 5 minutes per turn but people can ask to have more time if they need it. This group is pretty reasonable.
At 5 minutes per turn we should be able to get through at least 4 turns per nights, taking into account some people's turns are shorter than others. Why not try it as a compromise? If it doesn't work we can junk it.

At 1780 with 4 or 5 timed turns a night we'd be powering along. But...forget I pointed that out

OK, I played my first e-mail turn and forwarded to makeo. It is still 1780AD and will change year when it gets to AHorse - the white civ.
I think it would be a good idea to tell your enemies what units they lost when you send it. I told makeo he lost just one Engineer near Killdeer.
Let's try and get a turn a day - a full round in every 24 hours..... I mean I only use one of those hours

Sorry Sherlock, the save I sent finbar, without pressing enter, was 1782. On whose turn does it become 1784?
I have sent the save to finbar again.

Oh oh....
well the save I got from finbar was labelled:
President Shaka 1784 A.D.
BTW This is Mac naming , so to open on a PC you need to add ".net"
