We got the deal for engineering at 200 gold. However, Togas' note seems to indicate they wat to be friends with all. Here is my response and his original reply.
Note that we need to resnd the 200 gold next turn.
quote: Greetings Togas. Thanks for the reply - and many thanks for the deal. We commit to not trading it to another civ. And the Monkeys are pleased to meet such a happy and friendly civ. Unfortunately it is not like that over here.
In addition to the 200 gold, we are shipping to Team Sunshine a crate of our best bananas. (they make great daquiris.) Enjoy.
Cheers ...Beta, the Macaque, of Monkey. |

Beta,
Much apologies for not getting back to your team sooner, but I hadn't dropped into the Sunshine forum until today, so I missed your most recent correspondence.
As you may know, our team "accidentally" received contact with yours from Tabemono, as they were not supposed to trade it to us. We didn't complain, of course, but we also didn't pursue any trades as it might get the Tabs in trouble.
However, that was eons ago, and my personal feelings about the forced embargo of the teams who are beseiging you is ... well ... that it's rather unsunny. And we don't want to take part in any such behavior.
Team Sunshine wishes to be friends with all teams, no matter who they are, and we hope to be friends with everyone despite these horrible wars.
Therefore, we accept your humble trade request. We will sell you Engineering, we only ask that you not sell it to anyone else (no trade). For this, we will charge you 200g. (not 220 as you sent us).
Our turnplayer canceled the offer entirely, so please reoffer it and we will be on our way to a very sunny relationship.

Message from Togas and my response:
quote: Hi Togas. We definitely do want feudalism - but unfortunately we have fallen out of our GA. We are currently carrying a massive army - (and are still only average to CoD and Python) - and hence a negative cash flow. We need feudalism, and then invention, and then cash for longbow upgrades. We are working on a few domestic plans to help straighten out finances - but we will not be generating a lot of cash.
So - if your nation can find it in its heart to gift us feudalism, we would be eternally grateful. As to a cash deal - well - we could probably spare say, 80 gold right now - but then we will be begging for that same cash shortly for upgrades.
CoD and Python know where they have us. They could not crack thorugh the num merc and catapult defence we had built up - in fact, we gave Python quite a licking. So they have pulled back - and with their much superior economies, I expect we will see massive amounts of spears, longbows, and catapults coming our way.
I am about to embark on a diplomatic mission to the four nations on your continent. I appreciate that there are some tensions. But it would be helpful to all concerned - and I am not just talking our team here - if the four could set aside your differences - each build 3 to 5 galleys with troops, and set sail for Python and/or CoD. Python would be the best target. We suspect they should be fairly exposed up north, and it may expedite a peace agreement on our continent.
There's the situation. Any thoughts?

Beta,
Please let us know if you need more time for the payment, or if it has to be broken into a few turns, etc. Our turnplayer is getting confused, and begining to think that you don't want our Feudalism knowledge
