I am looking for an opponent for a 3 faction duel along the lines of the one between chaunk and chairman slick.. Their thread is as follows
CCS 3 x 2 Turn reporting thread
this is a smax game between Chaunk and ChairmanSlick
Players, in turn order, are:
University
Morgan
Angels
(played by Chaunk)
and
Hive
CyCon
Industrial Alliance (a Morgan Clone*)
(played by ChairmanSlick)
No AI. Transcend level
Large map, 50% to 70% water, average everything, spoils off, directed research, all victory conditions on
* the Morgan clone can be found here
The 2101 turn has been sent to Chaunk
Good luck to you both - and enjoy
I have pmed googlie wondering if he would set something up using the same map ( to be less work for him). I am happy to to:
1. have each player pick a dream team ( but no duplication of factions within a team) OR
2. Do a draft with no duplicates allowed and with Player A picking 1st, 4th and 5th and Player B picking 2nd, 3rd and 6th . .. OR
3. Even play one of the teams above as in the other game
I'd like to do a draft (opponent can choose to be player A or B) but as I said I will do it any of the 3 ways
Turn rate-- I expect a reasonable turn rate as I can usually get out a turn a day and have even gotten 10 out in a day in this type of game in the early years if both players are online at the same time. However I accept that we all have lives and gaps are to be expected in playing for vacations, weekend stuff, work commitments or kids.
So does anyone want to play??

That sounds like fun, though it should be described as a 2x3.
I'm not real picky as to the faction selection method, as I will happily play at least half of the 14 factions of SMAX.
Turn rate - normally I can play up to twice a day, at lunch and at dinner, depending of course on whether I have the turn at that time. |
Chaos Theory as the first responder-- I guess you are my opponent
Well if you don't care, How about we go with he draft method?? and your choice as to whether you pick 1-4-5 or 2-3-6

Flubber, you accidentally put me at the top there vs. Chairman Slick!
It sounds interesting.

Sorry about that-- I have edited it to put chaunk in there-- I only want to be involved in one of these at the moment so I can agree to take you on later or if you like this idea I bet you can wrangle an opponent in minutes if you posted a thread>

As my first round pick I choose the Morganites ( I am really trying to learn to play better with them)

On faction selection, I don't know that miriam, Fungboy or Santi would be that terrible in a 3 faction team environment. Each could play to their own strengths and be supported somewhat by better industrial/economic factions.
I actually have morgan/santi in a smac 3 player game and its kind of neat to have elite rovers before 2120

I don't believe I have run the POWER choice for more than a couple of turns total in all my games combined.
Wealth early and knowledge late seems to be the way to go.
For me though the FM/Planned/Green choice is always the most interesting since IMHO each constitutes a major shift in direction from each other
The first line is more boring since most factions do best in demo most of the time, Hive in PS all of the time . .. and the Future Society stuff is rarely that important sicne the game is largely decided by when it come available

With most factions, I end up using:
Among Politics, Frontier then Demo
Among Economics, FM with Planned for pop booms, then Green
Among Values, Wealth then Knowledge
Among Future Societies, usually just Cybernetic, if I get that far
For the Hive, I follow this sequence:
Nothing
Police State
PS/Planned
PS/Planned/Wealth
PS/Planned/Knowledge sometime after Fusion Power
PS/Green/Knowledge
Frontier/Green/Knowledge late in the game
We can modify angels.txt to reduce their probe bonus to +1, but give them ROBUST, PROBE to try to work around the probe bug. Alternatively, announce to me when your probe rating in cities is above +3 and I'll honor it.

I am aware of the fix of dropping them to +1 but frankly would prefer to leave them at +2 and do the announcement. I figure that the angels wouldn't be your first choice to probe anyway
I am not familiar with the effects of ROBUST, PROBE . .. what would it do ?

not needed in that case-- I would prefer +2 early and the rollover issue than dropping to +1 and getting my +3 later.
I just checked your profile and see I am pitted up against a computer expert-- I could be in trouble

A 3x2 game?
I've never played anything like that before!
I suppose I could give it a shot...
But the question is, are our factions contacted at game start?
Who else is LFG...
