Allright, we agree then, but there still is a risk, and if that risk is worth letting 9 night that can be used very well at the Ruhrpott front to cause nessecary or extra damage, that is up to each of you to determine. But I think that with an originally estimated (under the original estimated conditions) succes percentage of less than 66%, which is, for an all-or-nothing attack already quite low, with such a low percentage, you should just not attack at all and think of a better strategy.

I agree, but unless someone reverses their Yes vote from the previous poll, we're going to Parthe.

I say use all our nights to pilage as much as we can in the Rhurpott area.. In my MP experience splitting your forces is usually not productive unless your delibrately using them as a diversion (which we are not) or you plan on catching them completely by suprise, with no chance for reinforcements. Too Chancy givin their 3 move UU and the fact it is their core.

A shot at that is better than trying to 'play it safe' with just Ruhrpott. We're not into playing safe - this whole idea is reckless and crazy. The reason it was brought up was because we needed something BIG to make a difference. Even doing some terrain damage at Parthe will set them back some, and with a city that multiplies trade bonuses so much, every bit would be worth it. |
And that BIG blow is losing their FP. The FP loss will be quite staggering to many of their cities rather than just one city. Parth would just be icing on the top, though quite some icing nonetheless.

I'll be surprised if they think we are sending multiple fleets, seeing how many Caravels will be needed for the huge number of Knights etc at Ruhrpott. Don't we have zero defending units in many of our cities? If there was a sneak GWT landing in some of our homelands there would not normally be enough troops to defend - the only reason we have a few near some cities is due to upgrading for the invasion. Because of this I think the several turn delay in the Parthe landing is [I[ideal[/I]. You can't defend everywhere unless you run a large military bill. Quite possibly a large number of Ansars will be disbanded once CGN is gone - the GA is triggered, and you don't need that many troops to defend your continent from a single landing point. |
It's not just if they're expecting a landing by Parthe and thus _want_ to defend it, it's if they _can_. Depending on the state of their military after Micco, and on just what that unaccounted 40% of their army is, they could have defenses near Parth simply because they can. They may not build much more military if they're trying to improve their economy, but they will try to be vigilante for landings at all times with what they have already regardless of what they expect, simply because they can and you never know what's coming next.
