Worry not about those slightly odd wonders, they will be fixed.
I wanted to get this thing out into the playtest ASAP,
as I have kept everyone waiting too long!

I'll fix seattle too.

The commonwealth, represents all the allied nations who where part of the old Brit empire and sphere of influence...
....I only wish CIV2 had more civ slots!

The POW units are a little bonus for the 'evil' civs.
Focus of the game really is warfare, and it is a choice for
the Axis and Sovs to research this, when they could spend
the research on a weapon to fend off the Allied onslaught.

PS
And that US map is excellent, man!
It will be so useful for an upcomng project of mine, thanks RM!

2. For some odd reason the names on the outside of the cities of Jacksonville, San Diego, and Seattle are not showing up at all when playing the British. I suppose that these cities were founded after the map was uncovered?

3. Question about Quebec being the only exit out of the St. Lawrence/Great Lakes. Commonwealth ships are piling up at the city and cannot exit into the Atlantic.

Besides that it looks to be good and sound.

Just a quick Install guide!

1. Make a 'Dictator' Folder in your CIV2 Scenarios folder.

2. Make 'Sounds' Folder in your Dictator folder.

3. Drag or unzip the zip contents into the respective folders.

4. Make sure your MGE version is fully patched and has the 'No Limits' mod installed.

5. Make a cup of your favourite beverage, stick on your sounds and enjoy!

Well as Frankfurt usually is NOT part of the Rhein/Ruhrgebiet - but Cologne/Dortmund/Essen/Bochum/Duisburg (which normally would all stand at almoust the same square) are the highest populated area at Germany (and I also think all over Europe) I would rather intend to erase Frankfurt and build Cologne (or Essen) instead. This city should be Germanys absolute production- powerhouse and not be overranked by any German city.

It is a little like leaving out New York in the USA.

I've been testing Dictator all day too - Some hairy battles as the Reich.

It's Feb 1945, I have V2s, Me262s and Amerika bombers.
I did not declare war on the Commies, but in the Atlantic I am battling
with the never-ending supply of US Navy boats heading for Europe!

And some US super battleships just appeared too....EEK!

Lucky I took out London in 1944, and turned it into a fighter-filled, B17-attracting death zone!

Well, with the changes I will add tomorrow, things will get even more interesting!

See you all then!

Looking great, Curt!

What I discovered right off the bat:
* That German Soldier fortified south of Oslo is in fact foritied inside Sweden. Gothenburg to be specific.
* Stalingrad is not visable. You should reveal whole map in the scenario parametres.
* Why is Shiraz Rebel and Teheran not? They are both in Iran. Something I don't know?
* Won't the British controlled Delhi just stand in the way for the Commonwealth player?
* Guam is too far to the left. It should be more like 231,109.
* Wasn't Iceland allied controlled by June 1940?
* You have French North Africa in the neutral civ. Good! But Vichy-France was just as neutral in France. Rename Lyon Vichy and place it together with Marseille in the neutral civ.
* You should have more German aircrafts in Norway. Norway had many important airbases during the Blitz. Make an airbase at 134,48 or thereabout.
* The Norwegian region of Finmark on the Russian border saw some horrific fighting. Captured by the Russians in 44. Why not at least have a German outpost there in form of a fortress?

I agree with you Cifer, but wouldn't he then have to move the city up two squares, or at least one. And then maybe Leipzig could be removed, since it is then in the way, and replaced by Strassburg (Strasbourg) at 134,64 or Saarbrücken at 135,33.?

Fine work as always, Curt! Can't wait to try out the finished version!

btw, when can we see the Dictator Giga Map?

Whoops!

I was about to release the new zip, but after reading Kobra's info - I will delay that order!

I have added Cologne instead of Frankfurt, and moved the city up one square from Franfurt's old co-ords.

I will make these other changes and re-release the zip for a play today.

Stay tooned!

In a previous version -
I was going to make Lyon as Vichy before, but I heard many protests - What do you all think?

It might cause trouble when the D-Day invasion comes, the
Allies would not just let a Adolf-friendly government rule 1/2 of France!

Got spare money?

Well the Germans should be able to invade Vichy-france to secure the area from the Allies.

Another suggestion, shouldn't Hugnary (Budapest) and Romania (Bucharest) belong to Germany? It wasn't really conquered by Germany since they were allied. Just a suggestion though..

Ardabil should be included in ´what Kobra mentioned about Iran.

Al Mawsil belonged to Iraq so shouln't it belong to Britain?

And please, will you explain why you devided the British empire in two civs? And why certain cities in the same territory (i.e South Africa) belongs to the different civs.. *curious*

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

The dull orange civ is the British commonwealth -
A widespread power that represents the 40+ other nations of the Alliance.

And keep in mind that the UK claimed 1/4 of the world in 1939.

I had two choices -

1. What I had previously done, make a gigantic British allies civ;
This would become over-powered later on in the scen.

2. Create a scaled-down Allied civ, comprising many nations.
This would keep the power balance equal.

Note:
In the latest changes, I have given back certain capitals to the general commonwealth.
I had the idea of giving the Brits some control over crucial areas,
but now have scaled this back to cities that are definite UK critial regions:

Gibraltar, Eqypt, Iraq and some others.

The Commonwealth civ has not got the powerful air units of the Brits.
This keeps them from becoming a total late-game aerial nightmare.

That job is reserved for the UK and USA civs!

Cifer - You will not be unhappy with Cologne now!

It sits on an oil/industry square and can crank out 65-shield counters per turn!

And that is only with a factory, without any production upgrades...

This region will be the backbone of German weapon-manfacturing!

PS: What I really admire, Dude, is that you can handle constructive criticism. Well anyone knows that you are ONE of THE scenario gods... BUT certain persons wont accept constructive criticism and get insulted. I am very glad that you are not one of them.

And if you wish (although I am not much into Civ2 anymore) I would offer you to design Central Europe with Citys, City sizes and Improvements as Production nd Trade for your Scens in the Future.
I got several historical maps back home (unfortunately just for Central Europe) and lots of historical Background for THIS region of the world ( asi I think) ( ). So dont worry. Cifer is always there for you!

(And sorry about not helping you about the Kaiser Map but I had much trouble with alcohol and Studies down here at f****** Düsseldorf where I wish to escape from after the next term) (Münster hello! )

Curt,

DLed the latest and found that the Commonwealth around the Great Lakes still cannot exit out into the Atlantic. I suggest making a square ocean right by Quebec or otherwise the Commonwealth Civ will keep producing ships in the Great Lakes.

On the other hand, why don't you make an event that opens up the St. Lawrence channel and allows all those ships to empty into the Atlantic to fight the "Nasties"? Maybe make it contingent upon D-Day or a date?

If you wanted to be "historically accurate" the independent countries of the Commonwealth would include all of Canada, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. All the Commonwealth parts of India, Malaya, and Africa should be controlled by the British.

And Dar es Salaam was controlled by the British

This might sound a bit mental!

But - How would making some cities into actual national regions sound?

I mean making 'Mongolia' an actual region for instance, represented by one city - ?

Just a fleeting idea -

It would stop African colonies and other areas becoming a superpower late-game...
And free up more city space for more important areas...

What do you all think?

Feasible?
Dumb?

Whenever I see a scenario with a city named "Mongolia" or something, I just stop right there, but if you were going to but "Ulaanbaataar" in there, that'd be good.
