Sprite animations Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Just wondering, what's the best application to use for making sprite animations?

Well, most people create the images in either photoshop or paint shop pro, but they have to be put together into a sprite using the tool Activision provided.

I know that bit, but I was wondering if I could make an animation from scratch( say an .avi) then eport the frames to say photoshop for processing. then onto SpriteTool. If so what appliction could be used. My idea was to capture a bit of film( of say a tank) and use that( icluding sound).

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

You'd have to extract the frames of the .avi into tiffs first, and I don't know what you'd need to do that. There's no way to transfer directly from any animated format to sprites.
