	So, what is that about people having problems in changing their usernames back? Suffering from ads?

Why couldn't provost Harrison be Provost Harrison?

Why can't winston be Winston?

But why could Dookie be Dookie?

Am I able to re-change my name back to Andz83? Are others able to change their name to Andz83? In the same instance, am I able to change my name to, say, AI?

I guess any username that has already been in use can't be taken another time, but how come Dookie didn't have any problems with it?

There's no way around it other than asking the admins kindly to change your handle manually. Once a handle has been used before, the script won't allow a change back to that handle. Only the admins can tamper with it enough to make us all happy.

Oh, and you lose all your PMs in the process of a handle change as well. Just thought I'd mention it so you at least have a chance of copying the messages if they're important.

yeah, I know about the PMs.... but my Andz83-PMs were all messed up anyway, I think it had to do with the fact that I used another login than... ahh, that's a long story

Perhaps the script was originally made to prevent other people from stealing other people's original usernames. Or perhaps the name-changer script doesn't actually delete the username itself from the username index.

Though I can't remember having any problems reverting from Rural Ranger... Perhaps the guys who can't change their usernames back are just plainly too stupid .

I can't comment on that 'cause I don't understand it.

But you're right on your second assumption above. The script displays a message that reads something like

The username you entered is already in use by another registered user. Please enter another username

- well, duh... You can't very well argue with that, but that's the whole idea, stupid script!

Oh well, I can live with this for a while. It's not the end of the World, at least I don't think it is...
