I never notice my PMs down the bottom of the screen, just below the filthy, stinking hole that is the OT. Now I notice it, right up near the TOP forums, the Civ3 ones!

My guess is it only counts mail in the inbox, not in the sent folder (or any user-created folder for that matter).
