Or us, for that matter... I had an idea about us pulling our force out of Ruhrpott once GWT has their Ansars up there and then sending it down to GCA lands to wreak havoc there...
But we discussed the idae of having CFC land their Riders in GCA lands once we can be reasonably sure that GWT has moved their Ansars further north and CFC won't have to tangle with them.
If CFC lands with ~12 Riders, they can probably raze quite a few GCA cities, assumng GCA doesn't have an enormous military in the area and too astounding "luck".
That would help to set back GWT/GCA's plans for making GCA into a powerhouse by the time we want to make our next invasion. Down the road, it could make a lot more difference than CFC committing suicide trying to get at Flamburg.
Here's the chatlog of us discussing the idea(s):
quote:
Arnelos> btw... I have an idea
Arnelos> Have we thought of the idea of a landing in GCA lands to raze their new cities while GWT's entire Ansar force has already headed north to confront us?
mrmitchell> arnelos, et brought it up the other day
mrmitchell> although he was thinking more of where Washington and Micco [were]
Arnelos> or, better yet... take the force that landed near Ruhrpott... put it back on boats... head out to ocean... go south, land in old CGN lands and raze GCA cities
mrmitchell> gcalands are good too, but we put ourselves perilously close to ansars
* Kloreep|away is now known as Kloreep
Trip> could always use CFC to stir up trouble for GCA
Arnelos> mrmitchell - the whole idea is that GWT's Ansars will have already headed north to confront us... we pull out and switch targets
Trip> instead of going and getting themselves killed
E_T> there is that rubble pile, north of Washington, that we could set down a 2 knights and reign slight havoc
Arnelos> in other words... we continue to use the window of us having Navigation and them not FOR ALL THAT IT IS WORTH
mrmitchell> Trip: either way they'll slow down the ANSWARSS1!111111Z!!!!1
mrmitchell> right?
Trip> well, if CFC goes and razes all of the cities in that area then that'll hurt GCA's economic development quite a bit
Arnelos> the problem is timing
* E_T is now known as E_T_FAM4
Arnelos> because GWT's slow movers will be trying to get north slower than their Ansars
mrmitchell> isn't CFC landing on GCA better timing for us?
Kloreep> [22:30] Arnelos> or, better yet... take the force that landed near Ruhrpott... put it back on boats... head out to ocean... go south, land in old CGN lands and raze GCA cities
Kloreep> I like it
E_T_FAM4> well, with CGN still having units on boats, that might give them pause
Kloreep> Especially if we could time it with Parth
Arnelos> then again... CFC's riders are *ideally suited* for a razing campaign... especially since GCA cultural borders will only extend 1 tile around their new cities... they're be ripe for razing by CFC
Kloreep> But GCA will have units
Kloreep> Their cites won't be defenseless
mrmitchell> kloreep: but many?
Kloreep> Mrmitchell: It only takes a few pikes in each city to slow the Riders down
Arnelos> that is something we do not know
E_T_FAM4> damn, civ just crashed on my
E_T_FAM4> *me
* E_T_FAM4 is rebooting now
Trip> CFC will have, what, 12 Riders?
Trip> that ought to be enough to cause GCA some havoc
mrmitchell> havoc, yes. utter annihlation, unfortunately, probably not
* E_T_FAM4 has quit IRC (Quit: rebooting, back soon)
mrmitchell> but hey, who carees? we're pissing off gca. it's a win-win situation
Kloreep> Utter annhilation will be next to impossible
Kloreep> GWT can just keep gifting CGN cities
Trip> but we would still slow GCA down quite a bit
Trip> GCA WILL become fairly powerful eventually
mrmitchell> and make GWT have to give away more cities
Trip> and by the time our second invasion comes they'll be a significant threat to deal with
Trip> if CFC can torch most of GCA then that will help out quite a bit
Trip> actually a useful purpose for CFC in this
mrmitchell> Trip ;b:
Kloreep> Yep, I agree with Trip
Trip> and since GWT will have bigger things to deal with they probably won't divert much if anything to help GCA out
Kloreep> Razing GCA cities will force them to focus on settlers
Trip> and depending on where CFC lands, they could probably take out quite a few GCA units on just the first turn
Kloreep> And GWT won't be able to send many settlers to help depending on what we do with the Ruhrpott area
Trip> anyone want to post about this in the forum?
Trip> new thread perhaps
Kloreep> I see two issues
Kloreep> One is where CFC lands
mrmitchell> gwt will be able to cover for gca, but they will be stretched as thin as ****
Kloreep> The other is if we send the Ruhrpott fleet somewhere else after the attack
Arnelos> Trip - I'll post a chatlog if you want
Trip> okay, thanks Arne
Arnelos> will do
Kloreep> Arnelos:

So we have two issues:
1. Where CFC lands and what their mission is.
2. Once we pull our troops out of the Ruhrpott area (since GWT's Ansars will have moved up there), do we send them south to go raze GCA cities as well or send them back home?
Understandably, #2 is a decision that would be better to make AT THE TIME, but we can at least speculate now.
Thoughts?
