Hmmm, let's see, I got some in a dark dusty corner of my hard drive somewhere...

You can't go wrong with Will Rogers:
POLITICS
"I belong to no organized party. I am a Democrat."
"There ought to be one day-just one-when there is open season on senators."
"You can't say that civilization don't advance, however, for in every war they kill you in a new way."
"I don't make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts."
"The man with the best job in the country is the vice President. All he has to do is get up every morning and say, 'How's the President?'"
"Elections are a good deal like marriages. There's no accounting for anyone's taste. Every time we see a bridegroom we wonder why she ever picked him, and it's the same with public officials."
"If you ever injected truth into politics you'd have no politics."
"The income tax has made more liars out of the American people than golf has."
"If all politicians fished instead of spoke publicly, we would be at peace with the world."
"Politics is the best show in America. I love animals and I love politicians and I love to watch both of 'em play either back home in their native state or after they have been captured and sent to the zoo or to Washington."
"If we ever pass out as a great nation we ought to put on our tombstone, 'America died from a delusion that she has moral leadership."
LIFE
"We are all here for a spell; get all the good laughs you can."
"Try to live your life so that you wouldn't be afraid to sell the family parrot to the town gossip."
"The Lord so constituted everybody that no matter what color you are you require the same amount of nourishment."
"Civilization has taught us to eat with a fork, but even now if nobody is around we use our fingers."
"Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save."
"Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there."
"I wonder if it isn't just cowardice instead of generosity that makes us give tips."
"Broad-minded is just another way of saying a fellow is too lazy to form an opinion."
TRUTH/STUPIDITY
"An ignorant person is one who doesn't know what you have just found out."
"Everyone is ignorant, only in different subjects."
"Nothing you can't spell will ever work."
"There is two types of larceny, Petty and Grand. They are supposed to be the same in the eyes of the law, but judges always put a little extra on you for Petty, which is kind of a fine for stupidness."
"If stupidity got us into this mess, then why can't it get us out?"
(yeah!)
"People are getting smarter nowadays; they are letting lawyers, instead of their conscience, be their guide."
"No man is great if he thinks he is."
(unless you're me, right? )
"I guess truth can hurt you worse in an election than about anything that can happen to you."
"Nothing makes a man, or a body of men, as mad as the truth. If there is no truth in it, they laugh it off."
"Rumor travels faster, but it don't stay put as long as truth."
RANDOM
"Never miss a good chance to shut up."
"Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier 'n puttin' it back in."
"Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment."
"There's two theories to arguing with a woman. Neither one works."
(Don't we know it)
"Don't let yesterday use up too much of today."
"My ancestors didn't come over in the Mayflower-they met the boat."
"My father was one eighth Cherokee and my mother one fourth Cherokee, which I figure makes me about an eight cigar-store Injun."
"Everything is funny as long as it is happening to somebody else."
"Fanatical religion driven to a certain point is almost as bad as none at all, but not quite."
"You shake a slogan at an American and it's just like showing a hungry dog a bone."
"The only time people dislike gossip is when you gossip about them."
"All Wrigley had was an idea. He was the first man to discover that American jaws must wag. So why not give them something to wag against?"
"Everything is changing. People are taking the comedians seriously and the politicians as a joke."
"We can't all be heroes because somebody has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by."
"Things will get better-despite our efforts to improve them."
"I never met a man I didn't like."

"Everything must come to an end. And someday it's gonna be your turn. Even the world's gotta end sometime. Everybody leaves at one time or another. And everyone gets left also. That's just fate... It's sad, but there's nothing that can be done about it."
-Mideel Villager, Final Fantasy VII.
"In our world, every storm has an end. Every night, brings a new morning.
What's important is to trust those you love, and never give up. We must all keep hope alive..."

- Death (Sandman)
"It is said that the future is always born in pain. The history of war is the history of pain. If we are wise, what is born of that pain matures into the promise of a better world, because we learn that we can no longer afford the mistakes of the past."
-- G'Kar in Babylon 5:"In the Beginning"
"No, she's always quiet. We think maybe there's something wrong with her."
"Yes .. or something very right. The quiet ones are the ones that change the universe, Luc Derardi. The loud ones only take the credit."
-- Luc Derardi and Londo in Babylon 5:"In the Beginning"
"My people can handle themselves. We took care of the Dilgar. We can take care of the Minbari."
"Ahh, arrogance and stupidity all in the same package. How efficient of you."
-- General Lefcourt and Londo in Babylon 5:"In the Beginning"
"The humans, I think, knew they were doomed. Where another race would surrender to despair, the humans fought back with even greater strength. They made the Minbari fight for every inch of space."

"I need another bottle. I need several more bottles. And then .. wait one hour and bring the prisoners here."

"Activate defense grid, launch all starfuries, and if they move, shoot them. If they don't move, shoot twice. They're probably hiding something."
-- Lt. Corwin in Babylon 5:"The River of Souls"
"Oh, but I do understand. But that's what's got you worried, isn't it? A Vorlon said understanding is a three-edged sword: your side, their side .. and the truth. The truth is we don't need you anymore."
-- Sheridan to 'Vorlons' in Babylon 5:"Into the Fire"
"Babylon 5 was the last of the Babylon stations. There would never be another. It changed the future .. and it changed us. It taught us that we have to create the future .. or others will do it for us. It showed us that we have care for one another, because if we don't, who will? And that true strength sometimes comes from the most unlikely places. Mostly, though, I think it gave us hope .. that there can always be new beginnings .. even for people like us."
-- General Ivanova in Babylon 5:"Sleeping in Light"

That one's better in longer form IMO.
"The humans, I think, knew they were doomed. But where another race would surrender to despair, the humans fought back with even greater strength. They made the Minbari fight for every inch of space. In my life I have never seen anything like it. They would weep, they would pray, they would say goodbye to their loved ones... and they would throw themselves, without any fear or hesitation, on the very face of Death itself, never surrendering. No one who saw them fighting against the inevitable could help but be moved to tears by their courage, their stubborn nobility. When they ran out of ships, they used guns. When they ran out of guns, they used knives, and sticks, and bare hands. They were magnificent. I only hope that when it is my time, I may die with half as much dignity as I saw in their eyes, at the end.
"They did this for two years. They never ran out of courage, but in the end, they ran out of time..."
