We weren't aware of any solar flare event - is it a "Next turn all bases produce triple energy" event?

(And if it's happening in 2160, then it would have been the Gaians who were notified at the start of the 2159 year that the event was taking place the next year)

I didn't see any message when I opened the turn. I just noticed every tile was producing ludicrous amounts of energy.

No, solar flares are weird. If a solar flare will increase your energy in year X, while playing year X-1, after upkeep all the FOP icons in base screens will show the results of triple energy. You'll get the energy in year X, and you'll still see the triple energy during upkeep, but after that all the energy totals revert to normal. The F2 and F3 screens don't automatically recalculate after this change, however. As you view cities, the labs/energy contributions from those cities will be updated in the F2/F3 screen totals.

Sorry to be slightly anal about it, but I am going to have to enquire as to why the turn Angel turn was late, and remind factions that they have one warning for late playing, and after that I've been asked to administor punishments.

I understand the need for time, especially with diplomacy, but the time limit was put in place to make sure the game moved on and people didn't get disinterested. Playing well before the deadline is appreciated, and it's the responsibility of the team to make sure the turn is in when required. If there is a reason, please contact me and I will grant extensions.
