	Multiplayer Server Information 6-23-04 Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

I had been playing online with Erni on Monday afternoon with a single server (Nlink) and a few had Games server..

Then I heard other rumors so i went to Google and foundTHIS

I do hope this becomes a resolved issue quickly!

A bad situation indeed. We can hope that the servers will return soon... and that, after a switch to the new provider, they still have interest in running servers for games as unpopular (unfortunately) as CtP1/2.

I agree and hope that perhaps we can use our collective bargaining/incredibly imaginative resorceful community to overcome this and maybe, and I say maybe have a possible resolution THIS WAY but only time will tell...

Well I would think the game can run off any servers provided we get an updated servers.dat.

If not we go head to head with ipx or dxdiag. :0)

We always have pbem too :0)

I guess I am wondering why "any server" would not work. It seems that this must not be that difficult a service to provide. Wouldn't it just take a moderately fast server and a good T1 or better?

Ok maybe what I was referring to was if we found "A SERVER" wouldnt we then have to get the word to everyone that this was our location?

I am a member of Games Spy and am going to try contacting them to see the feasibiliities.......


I just checked CTPII and had a post of other activision servers being used but that didnt pan out...

Little hope on that. Firstly, Activision didn't maintain that MP server. Secondly, they don't support CtP series at all now.

They still have a support site for CTP and answered my question..(inadaquately) by telling me to reload there old server.dat file. Just think if we bug them enough they might help......

I think I have found a solution!!!!
It uses the ipx protacol, which you have to enable (if it in't already) in your network settings.

To make it work over the internet you have to use it with a program that you can download called Kalli http://www.kali.net/games.asp you then conect to there server and launch ctp from Kalli. It wasn't possible for me to try it out fully on my own. I need some one else to verify that we can connect with each other. If any one else wants to give it a try with me let me know. I'm on icq under the name grafxfx icq# 212-382-831.

Curious is civ2 and ctp the same servers.dat?

If so why could we not just connect to the same servers as they do. Several servers other than the ones we use offer this free. Gamespy I think is one of them for civ2.

Ya know I hate to pound this to death but I get pi$$ed thinking of the few who ruined it for the rest,.....

We had what 1000 players at one time, then the cheating by the few ruined it. Good lesson people use some integrety would ya? Winning is not the end all but cheating most certainly can be.....

I digress, but am still pi$$ed....

I'll look into it but run either of those two tools and email like heck the new service provider. Use all emails and friends etc to get the point accross "we want ctp servers back"

With luck... we may have CtP2 servers running on our machines, thanks to source code project.

But Kali over IPX isn't that bad, is it?

Frankly... I saw this coming someday. A game that everyone thinks has died, and we here are just about the only active players. It's still a shame, though .

Kali is quite good Solver, in fact what I saw was way better pings and a more stable connection.

Kahn is the same.

Good job Ricketyclik I have two machines to repair today I'll email them from both lolol. Off to my sis's today too so that makes four for me. :0)

I have a total of 5 repairs so far next week with any luck I can hit 15 or more emails by weeks end.

Good Idea solver I mean we know the servers.dat is the same right?

So I'll ask them if they plan on supporting that game. Then yes we just need to mod some files and we are in.
