What does the XP patch do? Tired of ads?

A while ago a thread came up with which factions are most affected by the XP/2000 compatibility patch. I was just wondering, does the patch do anything else? What actually does the patch do? I have XP, but apparently I don't need it. Should I download it?

Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

If you want to play in multiplayer games here, you should get it. It fixes a few bugs apart from XP compatibility.

Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

It gives Governors infiltration,
and it causes facilities on Transcend to cost the same as on Librarian.
In the past, Transcend facilities costed 1/3 of what they were supposed to.

But governors get infiltrators anyway, even without the patch. Oh well, I might as well download it, as long as it doesn't create any problems...

Put an end to popups!

In earlier versions (IIRC) a governor couldn't see the F2 through F7 screens of the other factions on planet.
Now the Governor can.

So does that mean the governor makes decisions based on what the other factions are doing? By govorner you do mean the AI you can use to run your bases right?

Are you sure about that? I don't think I've ever had problems with that before applying the XP patch.
