Creating a subforum of OG for forum games might be nice, as long as posts don't count them. Because some people currently use the forum games as an excuse for +1.

Same would go for demogames, that have given us a few persons with over-inflated post-ego-counts. How about making DG posts count as -1, and see how many people *really* enjoy the DGs ?

I think the majority of players (demogamers and forum game players) would still play if the posts didn't count. So often a high post count is the result of enjoying participating, not the end in itself. The people that care the most about post counts are seemingly those that whinge about others, without wanting to participate much themselves.

There are many forums which people use for an excuse for +1... so why pick on that forum

As true as that may be- the forum games are fun as well. If I wanted mindless +1's I could probably find other ways to gain them, as Ming has mentioned. And indeed, participating in forum games has very slightly raised the amount of posts I make in other games.

That being said I'm now averaging 20 PPD instead of 4-5 PPD before joining forum games

well said, DG's sure can be the vacuum that sucks the fun right out of the game...

and the various moods, politics and time zones of the different players sure can add further dimensions to the game...

but that is the joy of being in a Democracy Game

Perhaps an easy solution to the forum games in the Other Games section is to have the forum games threads headers start with FG - for example: "FG: Galactic Overlord VII".

Hmmm a quick check showes that currently 13 of the 25 threads that are on the front page are not forum games. Of those 13 the oldest date is yesterday sometime. This shows quite a vibrant forum. I have posted in some of those 13 threads where I never would have in the past. Looking at those threads I see a lot of posts from people that were drawn there due to the games. I won't say that forum was dead prior to FGs but it was a heck of a lot slower.

I'd like to thank all the people that have helped build a community there. I spend a lot of time there because I enjoy it. The GMs for almost all the FGs put in a lot of effort. Mafia GMs sometimes put in over an hour a day, making sure there is a good story. A lot more effort than the meager number of posts they get out of it. A lot more effort than some of the people here that are complaining put into their posts in other forums.

Personally I would like to see the posts in this forum not count, which I'm sure would decrease complaining by about 75%

An astute observation.

I think the forum games are a great addition to the site. I can empathise with some of the counterarguments but ultimately the good (from the forum's perspective) outweighs the bad.
