There are pros and cons of using it. We have it at civgaming.net, and it helps to see if you were the last person to post in a particular thread, so you don't waste time opening threads which have no new replies.
On the other hand, I sometimes get the feeling that certain threads are avoided if a particular person's name appears as the last poster.
