Avatars? Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

For some reason, I'm suddenly not seeing any avatars next to peoples posts. I've checked that I've not turned them off in Options, and looking at someone's profile shows they're still around.

So, what gives?

several stuff going today:

1) some cleaning was needed earlier this evening as our mail logs were slowing down the mail server and thus the whole system.

2) some 200k posts were moved into the archive forums

3) the last 90 minutes i've been archiving some posts (e.g. moving them off the main post sql table (if you know what i mean)) along with doing some other stuff that periodically raised load on the server

4) fixed the load limiting features (that havent been full working the last few months) thus causing the disappearance of avatars that you noticed

5) excluded PLUS members from the load limiting features.


currently load is perfect at 330 users

i say: close OT!!!

markos, CFC (apolyton's evil twin brother site) updated their vbulletin and now there's a choice, what kind of subscription notification one wants: none, immediate, daily summary, weekly summery.

i DO like the thread subscription feature (in fact, i bookmarked it: http://apolyton.net/forums/member2....on&daysprune=30 ), but i don't need to be notified for every update. it's enough to reload the "subscribed threads" page now and then . is there a chance that poly will upgrade the vbulletin version too?

sometimes I see them, sometimes I don't. Just today I've noticed this.

I like to see my cool flag avatar.

actually, it's what I use to find my posts in a crowd. Or to identify other posters (I'm too lazy to read their name )

But currently I do not see any avatars. I do like my knew civ group icon though . Looks purty.
