PAL will research Map Making in 8 turns +/-.
We have no immediate need for it, it allows harbors and galleys.
PAL (per past standards of practice) will most likely offer it to us accepted the turn they research it.
I would prefer ask them to NOT do so.
Curraghs are cheap to build (15 shields) and cheep to upgrade (45 gold).
Galleys cost a bit more (30 shields) to build.
Our costal cities are not high producers of shields, but we are excelent producers of gold (being commercial).
My idea is that when we are done with CDG, we will want an exploration fleet and an invasion fleet to attack the other continent(s). I would rather build curraghs instead of galleys, and upgrade as necessary. Post war, we will build 5-10 curraghs, then upgrade as necessary and as funding permits. This would require a 10-20 turn delay from the end of the war until we get map making.
Not knowing how fast our research will be however, I would not delay us going into a new age because of the lack of MM, but I doubt this will be an issue.
