EDIT:
There's still a problem with Morgan's ECs.
This turn was meaningless - I'm deleting the attachment to save space on 'poly.

Quite the contrary. We were clicking around in the dark area, viewing undiscovered terrain.
Then the crosshair -didn't- recenter.
I founded the bases THEN moved the probe. I didn't want xenoblooms swiping all our available terrain - which would suck.
The Rover can look for stuff, and the CLASSIFIED can blow up the stuff the rover finds.
Plasma Garrisons in Perims got you down?
No problem! With Mind Control and CLASSIFIED, we'll get you there!
The Monoliths were pretty good, I admit. Even got rid of a rocky fungus square - which are real PIAs.
Base names registered:
Enigma Machine and Kahlua Probing.

Drogue: Might want to PM me as well.
I viewed the unexplored area of the map. Not trying to find bases, but trying to see where the mountains and oceans probably are.
My guess is that Maki stumbled on that square unintentionally - trying to recenter her view on the Mt. Planet - looking thingy.
I doubt there are 4 Mt. Planets in this map, but I'm prepared for it if there are.
If Maki's found an AI faction, might as well tell people about it. No sense giving us an unfair advantage.

There can be more than 1 mt. planet.
The Central continent is probably The Hive.
The AI is probably on that Western segment (we don't know if they're continents or if they're joined on).
The rest of us are on each of those 4 small segments around The Hive.

Ok, I have a few points to make. Whether or not Maki was looking for bases, that is a direct breach of the rules. The rules stated that no method for finding bases outside of unexplored areas are allowed. The actions you took are a textbook example of how to locate a base outside of the base radius. If looking at terrain levels *might* make you locate a base, and thus directly break the rules, then don't click on unexplored area. This was not finding a base by mistake, whatever the intention. This was an exact breach of the rules. You clicked on an unexplored square in order to see what was there, and found a base. The rules state you may not find a base outside of the area you have explored. However you find it, if it is a result of your actions (ie. you're not simply told by another member) you have broken the rules, since the offense is finding it. Obviously clicking on squares to find terrain *could* lead you to find a base, and thus it is a distinctly possible outcome of searching for terrain.

The Spartans and one other faction, maybe Gaians, but more likely an AI, are probably on that big Western continent. |
How do you know which faction is which, or have any idea to guess? Just wondering
As for the replaying, I am talking to Kody about ways to try and avoid it. If we replay it to get those conditions, there'll be so many reloads, it will be obvious to other factions that you've got some seriously special conditions.
I'm open to any suggestions regarding that, and am looking at what to do about your clicking. I believe that you weren't looking for bases, but to make it fair, I think releasing the location of that base to all factions will be the fairest course of action. No-one unfairly benefits from it then. However if it happens again, for any reason, I will not consider it to be accidental, in the same way, and will be moderately harsher.
What you did was against the rules. Finding a base by clicking is clearly against the rules. If you do it completely by accident (the screen moves by accident and you find something) them PM myself immediately, with an explanation. Since I don't believe your intent was dishonourable, just misguided, my actions will just be to level the playing field, not to impose any penalty.
As I said, any suggestions about replays, etc. are greatly appreciated, and all arguments/defenses will be listened to, and thought upon, in any ruling.

Drogue: I'll replay the turn.
I knew I'd get ---KARMA for popping a CLASSIFIED on turn 1.
I thought it would be an earthquake pod to divert the river, but turns out it's a replay of turn 1! >_<''
Well, if the God of Random Number Generators wishes me to have an Ogre, she will give me an ogre.
If she instead wishes to *****slap me and eat my probe team with mindworms, such is life too.
(ED. NOTE: There will be a lot of *****ing for a reload if MWs do in fact eat the probe team)

Either is fine. It must be the same moves, and will be posted on this forum, but it's up to the Angels who does it.

Problem is, I can do it only around the time the 48 hours time limit expires. So the turn would be posted in the nick of time. |
Time limit is not a problem. Was an error with the turnn you got. 48 hours starts from when the new turn is posted.

Also, about that a hidden base is found, the terrain types we found this turn almost cry for a further exploration south and east.
How about that we just don't go to that area for 5-10 turns or so instead of letting anyone know that something sneaky might have happened with the announcement of this base location?
WE are not sure either WHICH faction is situated there, it is just a black spot on the map which doesn't recenter, open for speculation. |
I'd rather not. I won't tell them where it is either. You can explore whichever way you want, but the only way to make it exactly fair is to give that base location to everyone, so everyone has an equal position. I will tell them it was discovered by accident, so is being equalized, not as a punishment. I don't want to punish, just to level the playing field.
The comment I made, asking why you think the Spartans are over on what you believe to be a Western Isle, was because foolish seemed relatively confident about it. Also, I'd like to know how you find out landmarks. I did not intend for a map like that to be possible to be made, or even guessed, to any great extent, and would just like to check how it has been done. If it breaks no rule, then it's fine, but I would like to check that all information has been gained legitimately. I'm also quite curious as to the methods used

My assertion about the Spartans is an educated guess. It seems likely that Buster would set up the starting locations so as to give factions a chance to play to their abilities, in the case of the Spartans, a momentum rush on another faction. But he wouldn't want it to be too certain--thus a land bridge would be present, but the start locations would be far away, necessitating a large continent. That was my reasoning. But upon further reflection, I am less certain about it.
As for the map: I was under the impression that this had been done last game, in making "turn simulators". Certain landmarks have distinctive shapes. Garland Crater, Sunny Mesa, Unity crash site are easy to see. For the rest of the map, examine the slope-shape of the grid lines and land forms will be shown. Recreate the elevations in a map editor, and voila. I'm just glad we weren't using a huge map

Let's GO GO GO. I'm tired of waiting for Morgan to fix their petty cash problems! >

Garland Crater, Mt. Planet, UNS unity wreckage, Nessus Canyon, Pholus Ridge, Sunny Mesa and to a lesser extent the Manifold Nexus
all have predictable terrain associated with them.
