Any return on Investment when disbanding a unit in a city? Increase the size of your Attachments

In Call To Power you could "disband" a unit in a city and get a small portion of that units production added to whatever your building.

I would often build say maybe Calvary in a lot of cities and send them to a city that was building a Wonder then disband and get the Wonder pretty quickly...

Is this possible in CIVIII Conquests? I know you cant "Rush Buy" a Wonder, was wondering if it was possible this way?

I mean, it doesnt have to be a wonder, it could be any things that your building.

Thanks
for any input/advice

It works for me. This works best in outlying cities with high corruption.

I had to do this in my last game. I just did not have enough gold to upgrade units. But I had cities with plenty of production. So I just made the better units. Moved them into garrison position. Then moved the old units to a city to disband them. You don't get a whole lot, but it's better than nothing.

Disbanding gives 1/4th of the shields used to produce the unit to whatever the city's building, with the exception of small and great wonders. In fact, if you've disbanded a unit, or chopped forest, to get shields into your build box, you won't be able to switch to a wonder in that city until the build is finished.

So this works with all building "Except" small or great wonders?

Ok..I was thinkingmaybe for building granaries or barracks or factories in newer cities far away from my main settlement areas.

Ok..appreciate it!

Tired of ads?

The palace is also treated like the wonders: you can't rush it and if you have rushed shields in a citiy's box, you can't switch to it.

IIRC, disbanding gives you 1/5th of the shields put in to the unit; so if you disband a warrior in a city, you'll get 2 shields. You get a greater fraction with the Recycling tech, but I can't remember what it is; doesn't really matter since it's so late in the game.

No, I'm pretty sure it's 1/4, just rounded down. So a warrior is 10/4=2.5, rounded down to 2.

1/4 shields. You can also apply it to building units (not limited to non-wonder improvements).

With the Recycling tech, selling an improvement will not only get you a few gold, but also some shields towards what is currently being constructed. I do not know the ratio.

You'd get a better return on investment if you had workers plant forest and then chop them down. If you are below your unit supply limit it can be worthwhile to have a few workers do that.

Can you chop down a forest, replant it, and chop it down again, and continue to gain shields? On the same tile, I mean.

You can plant and chop as much as you like, but since PTW you only get shields from the first chop. This is why you see players in PBEM games keep track of tiles that have been chopped.

Soo, do you get shields only when the forest had been there from the start, or would you get them if you planted a forest on a tile which had flatland from the start?

Only shields from 'natural' forests, or only shield once per tile?

Good point, as I understood from another post that you couldnt plant and chop and plant and chop..

BUT..what you say has an interesting point, can you plant a forst on a non forest tile and get a ONE TIME Shiled return?

I am learning much from these posts!!

Peace

You only get shields from the first chop. That can be from a natural forrest or a planeted one.

So natural forrest chop, get shields. Plant on that same tile and chop and you do not get shields.

Planet on a tile that never had a forrest and chop and you get shields. Plant again and chop and you do not get shields.

It is not new to C3C. I cannot remember, but IIRC it was a very early patch for the original game.

Full PM-box? Change here!

Changes v1.16f:
* The cost of building a Palace is now based on the number of cities in your civilization.
* The Sun Icon on the Info Box represents the amount of global warming affecting the game. If the sun does not display, there is insufficient global warming to affect the terrain. Once the sun displays, the brighter it is, the greater the impact of global warming.
* It's slightly easier to culturally acquire cities.
* Forests planted on tundra always display as pine.
* Irrigation sorts slightly differently.
* Goody hut console popup display times increased.
* Relationship lines are no longer displayed on the Foreign Advisor unless the player has contact with both civilizations.
* Corruption effects have been reduced.
* Cultural priority of AI has been reduced.
* Submarine and Nuclear Submarine now have an offense value of 8.
* Paratroops now have a range of 6.
* Privateer now has an offense value of 2.
* Corruption calculations for Communism are now flat for the number-of-cities factor.
* Borders now draw over forest and jungle.
* Shield bonus from clearing forest can only be received once per game.

I never thought about planting a forest on virgin tile (ahh virgin ) and then to chop. This could be a very valuable strategy.

Especially if your out in the middle of nowhere..

Is there a certain terrain you cant do this to?

How about a certain age?

i know in Call To Power you need Aggricultur revolution to terraform forests as well as advanced farms & Industrial Age to Terraform Swamp

Just wondering but I guess I could:

A)Read Manual
B) See what the latest patch offered
C)C if the manual was the latest information or like many strategy guides, "close" to the final product!

Or

D) Simply ask the experts here whom are so helpful and eager to advise young (well, in my case old and shriveled up) up and coming wanna-B professional players

Forest planting becomes available with...engineering? Yeah, I think that was the tech

You can forest grassland, plains and tundra.
