I just purchased CTP and have been trying to install it but it keeps hanging up during installation. I have tried using task manager to quit all unnecessary programs before starting installation, and I have made a shortcut to the setup program and switched the compatibility to win 95, but still no luck. The farthest it has gotten has been about 16%, and although the music continues playing and the images keep cycling, I can leave it running all night with no further progress. Any suggestions? Thanks folks!

I was thinking about installing this game again but I have XP now and I'm not sure if it's going to work. Is it even possible for it to run in XP? I don't want to go buy the game again and end up not being able to install it. Thanks.

Well, Grandpa Troll, I took your suggestion and cleaned the cd and tried again. It hung up again, but it got a little further, so I just kept restarting the computer and restarting the installation process. Eventually I discovered that if I just popped the cd out and replaced it when it stopped loading, then 2 out of 3 times it would start up again. Now it's all loaded and seems to be running fine. Not sure what the real problem was, but thanks for the encouragement in getting past it!

Now if I where you I'd burn that CD asap to try and prevent further damage if that was the problem.

I have one machine w/xp running CTP just fine. I have a Dell XPS laptop fully decked out that won't run it. I get the Play More Quit screen, but it won't load.
Please help. Send e-mail if you can. krazymike@gmail.com

>did you install it?
Er, yeah. It's installed, doesn't prompt me to insert CD or anything.
It runs fine on an old machine, (Win 98 Pentium II) but on my new PIV Win XP SP 2 computer, it's doing the same 'hit play and return to the desktop' that other people are seeing.
I've tried installing a few times, so it's definately not the disk surface. I have no idea what it is though.

>maybe something to do with the sp2
That's my guess. SP2 has a bad rep as far as screwing with games. It came bundled into my copy of WinXP, so I can't even remove it. Once again, Microsoft has shown their inability to make a product that's actually better than a *nix box, but their incredible ability to out-market all of their competition.
