You manage your economy in two ways: firstly, by answering issues on the NS site (which aren't always related to the economy, but which actually change your stats), and secondly, by RPing stuff about it here; more or less anything goes as long as it isn't blatantly ridiculous or beyond your nations capabilities.

As a newbie, your nation is basically unable to knock over a local Coles, which is why I suggest that you place your nation under the protection of somebody big, strong and caring, like Al Mastif.

The Holy Emperor Arkatahten is alarmed at the threat of "an ultimate weapon" in Scorpiania. While his holiness does not believe that any such weapon actually exists, the mere possibility warrants some action. The Holy Emperor is concerned about Scorpiania's militaristic posturing and threatening statements. Scorpiana obviously poses a clear and present danger to Arkatahten and other countries in Apolyton. The Holy Emperor calls upon his Secretary of Defense, Sprat Begat, to do what is necessary to position for the possibility of war.

The Holy Emperor also requests assistance from its neighbors to protect the sanctity of Apolyton.
