	Promotional Competition for Civilization IV Put an end to popups!

Ok, this is a thread for ideas for promotional competitions for Civilization IV. I am starting this because I had what I think is a cool idea on the matter. Feel free to add your own ideas for competitions.

Basically, in my idea everyone would write a short (say 10 lines) poem about Civ IV and Firaxis would pick one person and have his/her face and name appear in the game as one of the advisors (eg military, foreign minister, etc), or perhaps as an alternative leader for one of the Civs (the normal leader would still be the default option). I think this would be pretty and appropriately Civ IV narcistic (heh, I certainly would not mind!).

Any other ideas for promotional competitions or comments on this one?

Have people make shrines devoted to Sid Meier and send in their photos. The winner gets a marble bust of Sid Meier, and can get to decide how many times bigger Sid Meier's name should be on the box then the game title.

I thinking a poem about Civ in general rather than Civ IV specifically. Of course, a poem was just an example, which would probably end up funny - just as any promotion should be!

There's already a whole forum dedicated to stories. Some of them are quite good.

Sounds like a personality cult which is ironic coming from someone with a Stalin avatar.
(Will the marble bust echo the Maltese Falcon and have a pre-release copy of the game in it? I can imagine the intrigue now... )

You may recall that when Civ III was being promoted, the website had a quiz question each day, and gave a prize to the winner.

Maybe they will do something similar again?

That was an annoying case of running up their hit count. Besides, I had better things to do than to keep checking back every day for a remote chance to win a token prize.

I think that if the goal is promotional, the first thing to do would be to look at which medium would be the best civ-promoter. And I bet the poem would not win at that contest
