Save is here as posted above (with link).

This message came with the save:

Greetings to our Apolytonian Brothers!

Here is the save and a few brief bits of information as well -

You may expect Mapmaking in 4 turns. Have you anything interesting of your own?

We are somewhat concerned and worried with the growing size of Ur and the possibilities as to what it may be constructing. If your sages and scriers should come across any useful information in that regard, we would be quite grateful.

We are somewhat ....surprised and bemused.... that CDG still remains a 2-city empire. We hope that your own expansion is somewhat more bountiful. Has CDG experienced any drops in size that you can see? (As you recall, we cannot tell the size of the city you say is called Minnesota.) We are making a move towards the ivory of that area in the relatively near future and are wondering if we may face a little competition.

Our progress to our joint objective goes well! We hope the same can be said for you.

If anything can be done by the mighty nation of PAL for their excellent and stalwart APO brothers, please do not hesitate to contact us. We hope your warrior has enjoyed his tour of our lands, and the supply of the finest bananas we have left for him in his travels. "Jolly Old Saint Grog" is now remembered quite fondly in many PAL townships as he now heads north back to what our people say is his icy home, filled with many presents.

I say we should tell PAL what we can see as of this turn - that there is a third CDG city. Possumopolis.
This is nothing vital, nothing they can't find out eventually anyway and IŽll keep pushing for my ideals, even though the team decided I would not be a good enough Consul.

Our Archer Phobos is gone Jason or someone may need to be ready to move out and protect the exposed Worker Roads R Us.

Looks like we can give one of the shielded bonus grasslands that Hypnos is using to PoseidonŽs Harbour this turn or next in order to not waste shields. A shame we will waste shields in Apolyton no matter what.

Also, you can see that three Goth Galleys are menacing the Argo! We did have bad luck this turn. That Curragh is doomed. Shall we head out to sea for a last look?

I'm relieved to see the horses aren't in their borders yet. And definitely tell PAL.

I'll be back home once again and able to play the save at around 5:30 eastern; right now I need to grab some lunch before tennis.

Both Minnesota and Zari both had pop drops at the same time, but Zari lost only 1 pop, so it could have been a worker. It was 2 turns ago that Minnesota spawned a settler, and I don't think they could get to Possum and build a city that fast. I think the Minnesota settler is heading north.

CDG likes to use 4 tile spacing. They haven't moved west or to where Argo can see them. It's possible tha they're moving up towards the coastal game, but they won't build on that tile, possibly on the hill(river) tile that's coastal. We should have Argo check it out.

CDG will spend sheilds on expanding the radius of Possum to get the fish and other bonus tile. This would give them horses eventually.

No problem telling PAL about CDG's new cities. I wish we had more info on Ur ... I'm also very curious about what wonder they're building and how they can keep that high pop happy.

Argo is DOOMED. Those three GOth Galleys will catch it in 2 turns even if we flee South. Curraghs to non-Seafaring civs have 2 moves, Galleys have 3. We can head Argo out NE in a possible suicide run to look at a few more sea tiles, head south and hope by some mracle to survive, or fortify for at least a small bonus, but I don't think we stand all that much chance against 3 Galleys.

Tired of ads?

I don't think Argo will get a defense bonus from forting. I think we might as well go 8-7 with it.

Suggested WF: Poly moves off the cattle to the unimproved river grass, Poseidon's harbor moves from the Tobacco to the cattle.

Cuts a turn off the barracks in Poseidon and a turn off its growth if we can keep the cattle there for another turn. Next turn (1525 BC), Hypnos can move off a bonus and give it to poly for its shields, and in 1500 BC, Poseidon will have grown and can give the cattle back to poly for the 4th turn of growth.

Edit: Togas, where are you? It's 9 eastern.

The WF plans for sharing the cattle are solid. Apolyton just needs those cows 3 turns from now. This turn Apolyton has too many shields. Next turn Hypnos will have too many sheilds, so both turns we can slight those cities and get our builds out on time ... and help PH move along faster.

We are rank #3 in Population, Production, GNP, and Mfg. Goods. That must mean that we've passed BAT (because we obviously are ahead of CDG), who appears to be sinking all of their pop and production into the capital city and a wonder which lies within. The question we must ask is: What is it?

Most likely it's the Pyramids, it's the only wonder that makes sense this early but at 400 sheilds, it's going to be extremely costly. It's possible that they're going for Statue of Zeus ... if our mapmakers decided to even things out and put Ivory on both continents, perhaps. But such things we cannot worry about.

We have Math now. We should probably offer it up to PAL. We will have Philosophy in @10 turns.

Still no sight of any other CDG settlers (or units for that matter). I'm convinced they've sent the Minnesota settler to the north, and it may be to the west of that coastal cattle and out of our sight.

CDG still does not have Masonry or The Wheel.

With the death of Phobos, we are AVERAGE to PAL, but still strong to CDG.

Apolyton's radius will expand in 2 turns.

Got spare money?

CDG talked to us about the GL in a chat a while back and wanted us to confirm that they could have that wonder and that we would not build it.

Did I miss something in the past month when RL has forced me to be out of touch more than I like?

My guess is it is a prebuild with "something" for GL.

Do they have Map Making? Shows you how out of touch I have been

Excerp of CDG chat posted on 6 June in the FA thread:

They were talking about GL wonder back then:

quote:

18:04] [MRex] As you know, the civ we play as is the Vikings (Scandinavians). As such, we have the seafaring trait, which allows our boats to move one square farther and not sink as often.
[18:04] [Kloreep] Yep
[18:04] [Nuclear_Master] Yes
[18:05] [MRex] Since neither you nor PAL posses this trait, we are the most likely civ to be able to reach the other continent.
[18:05] [Nuclear_Master] That may be true
[18:06] [MRex] We are considering enhancing our chances of this further by building the Great Lighthouse - we'd have 5 move galleys that don't sink often.
[18:06] [Nuclear_Master] And?
[18:07] [Kloreep] I'm not sure if there is an and
[18:08] [Kloreep] Or is there?
[18:08] [MRex] The question is, if we chose this route, would Apolyton consider working with us to get the Lighthouse? By this I mean not trying to build it yourselves.
[18:08] * Octavian_X has joined #c3c_isdg_embassy
[18:08] * ChanServ sets mode: +o Octavian_X
[18:09] [Kloreep] Hi OCt
[18:09] [Kloreep] CDG is thinking of building the Great Lighthouse
[18:09] [Kloreep] To complement their seafaring trait
[18:10] [Octavian_X] That doesn't sound like a bad idea.
[18:10] [MRex] Basically, if you look furthur down the road, we'll have our UU and super fast boats. We'll be able to quite easily launch an invasion across the seas. If APO helps us now, we will help you when we get this powerful combination later in the game.
[18:10] [Nuclear_Master] How long will it take you to build it?
[18:11] [Kloreep] There'll likely be competition...
[18:11] [MRex] If PAL comes on board with this, we can even consider launching a 3 way attack onto the other continent to claim a decisive victory.
[18:12] [MRex] Yes, competition is unavoidable from the other continent. But if we are assured we have your backing on this, we can pour more of our resources into it and get it before anyone else.
[18:14] [Nuclear_Master] Have you already talked to PAL about this?
[18:14] [MRex] Dedicating one city to a great wonder this early in the game is very risky, considering we'd have to give up all that production that could otherwise be spent on infrastructure/military/etc.
[18:14] [MRex] That is why your support is necessary
[18:15] [MRex] No, we have not proposed this plan to PAL yet.
[18:16] * godking has joined #c3c_isdg_embassy
[18:16] [godking] hello
[18:16] [Kloreep] Hi
[18:16] [Nuclear_Master] That sounds good to me, but I would still have to check with the rest of the 'Poly team

No we haven't. A size 7 city has 280,000 population. A size 6 city has 210,000 population (both numbers assume no food in storage).

We are at:
Population: 3rd with 209000

Seeing PAL cities at 6,5,4,2,1,1,1, I think the order would be more like:

PAL - 520,000+
BAT - 280,000+
APO - 209,000
GWT - ?
CDG - 170,000+

Coast, sea and ocean each offer a 10% defensive bonus. I do not know what that means relative to fortifying though.
