I was just getting my ass handed to me for the umpteenth time on Deity/huge, and was wondering if there was a 'fastest win' in a deity/huge game?
a quick sub-question, what do you do when you lose out on the iron, and don't want to go to war? Every time I try to be the nice peaceful guy, they gank a necessary thing like iron, basically putting me out of the game unless I wage war.
it really resembles real life, in a way. the tough people that take what they want are feared and respected, while the peaceful guy that listens to michael bolton gets the beat down. Hehe.
anyway,
I'll have a settler like 2 squares away from the iron then bam, I'll see their color-coded border where I was planning to place my city. This is usually when I lose my temper and roll up with 15 archers outside the homeworld..my magnificent primitive ape-like tactic

my idea of speedkill isn't milking, or postponing the final victory.
speedkill, in my book, is a complete elimination of all races as fast as you can with absolutely no procrastination or postponement.
I just got killed on deity/small, Carthage and Babylon teamed up on me with their uu's...
theres just absolutely nothing you can do at that point when they arrive with 6 of each UU outside your hometown, I had a wall and 5 spearmen in the city they attacked. Somewhat prepared. Just can't stand up against those mercinaries, wall or no wall. Immediately when I saw the 12 UU's inc I began rush producing my best unit, spearmen, and moved my entire army of archers towards carthage, knowing a few of his cities would only have 1 or 2 defenders in it
I had no artillery and even the bowman are decent defenders, so attacking them was out of the question even with my 7 archer army. I ran the archers to Carthage's dye town and got that, but my capital and surrounding cities had been taken already so I was pretty much out of the game. fun stuff..
