Interesting that we both got knocked the wind out of us when the round before that we were still leading Skanky by 15 to 25 hit points. We also got utterly demolished in the first round, losing about half of our HP, so I surmise that the lazy git used the same set against us both.

I'm open to suggestions on how to finish this off. Since it looks like we'll have 4 contestants left to choose from a pool of five, I was thinking of a a wildcard round between the 4th and 5th place holders. That would also save me the trouble of having to recalculate yet again all the scores, as I'd just figure it out from the current results.

Have tabulated the results, for both the wildcard option and having removed scores vs. Drogue/Chaunk/Ljube. I'd like some more input before I wrt the semis/finals before I post them. I'm leaning toward the wildcard myself, just because the many withdraws have screwed up the game a bit, and I think a wildcard would be a last chance to settle things. What you think?

I sort of like the idea of having the semis. I agree that going from 5 to 4 is somewhat silly, but we really still went from 8 to 4, we just had people going AWOL during the game.

I also suggest that we keep on a 24 hr schedule, or the person that misses their orders gets the default orders which are:

11-11-11
11-12-11
11-11-11

I would just go ahead and calculate the results and finish the game with defaults from LJ and Chaunk

If there is a need to have a WC match for 5, then so be it. Lets try to stay on schedule since it will be easier to keep peoples interest and we will have less of a chance that players will go AWOL.

I don't like the 11s plan at all.

We need to transfer the successful default order to gladiators. For example you specify a default setup that is used if you miss a turn, and thereby lose the chance to adapt to the situation. This is a fairer punishment than straight 11s which means death if your opponent sees it.

But that's the idea. If you don't send your order in on time, you'll lose. Active participation is generated by servere penalties for absense.

There can be mitigating factors when you'll know your not available. But they need to happen ahead of time. Unexplained absenses should not be tolerated.

I hear you, but with a 24 hour limit penalising someone with death after they may have been playing consistently for weeks just seems overly harsh to me.

I'm here more than most, and I miss days due to forgetting or just being busy.

My way you get one chance to use your default orders. After that your opponent will have a good idea what they are and can take advantage.

So it retains your focus on participation without being overly harsh like the straight 11s.

Plus I'd add that this isn't NW. If you gift your opponent a free win then the players you actually fought against are disadvantaged - that element cannot be overlooked, adding another reason to give someone default orders to be used if they forget.

DrSpike-> Only finals
Kass-> ONly finals
Spaced -> Go with semis
Skanky -> doesn't care, i.e. lost interest.
and nothing from gjramsey.

I think I'd rather do the semis, which makes it 2-2 tie, and my vote trumps anyway. I'll just post the whole thing:

Congratulations go to Kassiopeia and Spaced Cowboy for a joint 1st place tie, with either the Doc in 2nd or 3rd, depending on the results used. Skanky comes in fifth, so he's out of the semis (I decided against a wildcard). I have an idea to encourage timeliness, without instant kills or 11-11-11s . I'll allow a default order, and have a 48 hour limit, since I have enough crazy stuff going on in my life for a 24 limit to not be practical.

48 hours with one default sounds good. Are you going to only allow one for the whole match, to be used twice if the player is absent twice? Given it's 48 hours, that doesn't seem too harsh to me.

My interpretation of default orders means that each player sends in a default set of orders, which can be updated at any time and used whenever the player is absent. Seeing as you lot have gone this far, I would hope by now their won't be any more problems wrt delays.

Traditionally the 1st place winer fought the 4th place winner, and the 2nd fought the 3rd. As there's a tie for 1st, and the 3rd and 4th place will be decided by which set of points I decide to implement, I'll just call it.

and,

The Ram W15 A5

Skanky, of course, will provide incitesightful commentary.
