Is the Tabemono PBEM worth continuing? Enter the AD-FREE zone

Guys, I am wondering if the Tabemono PBEM is worth continuing...

The truth is - we should have called for a restart - most of you have complained at one or more times about how bad your area is (including me at times admittedly) -Zargon has even jokingly named some of his cities that illustrate that point.

The truth also is that Kloreep has such a good area that he couldn't have gotten much better if he had designed the map himself (don't worry Klo I know you didn't )

So for me the game is a foregone conclusion. For me, it really doesn't matter as I have stated on numerous occasions that my goal was always survival rather than any chance at winning - though I do think that given the developing situation and the enormous gap in the distribution of land that continuing the game is probably a waste of time.

I know - all of us would usually "grin and bear it" if we had a bad area for the good of the game - some would even take it as an interesting challenge to be tackled.

If you think I am being a spoil sport in saying this, I remind you that currently I am still 1st in a lot of areas (though not for much longer given Kloreep's current surge ) but even I see the unequal situation.

Any comments?

Well, it's no secret that I was planning a rush of whoever was unfortunate enough to be next to me and the whole island thing ruined that plan. So, at that point I was behind in the buildermongering which I'm not good at anyway. (not that I had food bonuses to work with for QUITE some time...if only that had been a SETTLER, not an 'advanced tribe with shitty location'...) You guys are teaching me buildering anyway, so I've gotten better since even this game started.

However, since then I've taken this game as an experiment. So, for me, it has value as a part of the experiment. I've *****ed about the volcanos and plains, yes, but more in jest than anything else.

I can't see much of your land, Sharpe, but unless your capitol is on an isthmus, your situation doesn't look too bad to me. You have the Pyrs, and I know you're still fairly far ahead of me, though I'm probably well in the #2 spot thanks to some food bonuses.

Rhoth really got it stuck to him on corruption, but with a more centralized FP to combat that corruption, he could have a decent civ.

UnO doesn't seem to have the best corruption position either, but I wouldn't say he has the worst start either. That honor would fall to Zargon. Poor Zargon certainly is in a bad situation. But he's the only one I would say is out of the running, and he could still surge ahead if us other four get into a one hundred turn war or something.

I don't know. Yes I did get it stuck to me with corruption problems (I currently have cities on five different islands) and two whole food bonuses on those islands, neither of which I have settled yet since they are the farthest away from my capital of any city sites. But at the same time it's been sort of fun to try to figure out how to grow and protect my nation at the same time (with UnO to the southwest ).

I have to be honest though, if this game dies I'm not too sure I'd want to start a new one. As most of you well know my desire to play Civ is almost non-existent nowadays. I'm only keeping up on Vox and the few PBEMs that move decently well. I've been pushing my slower PBEMs to just die.

Actually we are fairly even for the moment - though 50 turns from now you will probably be twice as powerful as me.

Despite the Pyramids, we are nearly even in population (my 30% to your 27%), and despite me being scientific, in Republic and having 6-7 libraries while you just got Literature, I am a grand total of ONE tech in front of you and I just got that tech (yes, if I hadn't traded you Engineering it would have been 2 - stupid mistake on my part )

To me Civ is like reading a murder mystery - it is a letdown when you know the outcome well before the end - and there is no doubt in my mind that Kloreep is going to win - quite easily. Unfortunately Klo you seem to have gotten a terrific area while the rest of us have.... critical problems with our areas...

Rhoth sounds as though he is playing just because the game is moving, UnO is using this as an experiment and Zargon has a challenging situation to say the least...

If you guys aren't having fun anymore, it would be okay with me to end this.

For one thing, I could ditch that 1.15 double install once I get the MZO DG to upgrade.

That's fine with me. I think a lot of the potential fun of this game was sucked out by crappy starting positions and UnO not being able to attack everyone.

Yeah, UnO losing out on the opportunity (so far ) of attacking everyone was probably a real disappointment eh? (Especially as I am right beside him )

I just sent the save to Kloreep - I am willing to continue if the others are...

My biggest objection is simply that this has been the best moving pbem, friendly, fun, and that I had allot of, um, unorthodox things planned.

That said, removing the dual install would be nice, and there are other games I can try my hand at feudalism vs human opponents.

Hell, Kloreep even made sure I have the Zulu to play.
