I commented about it, and told people in general terms to chill a bit, and keep the discussion at the level of discussion.

It is a controversial topic, at the marginal edge of acceptability (IMO) for a general forum like this, only because it is also a serious issue and a real problem. As long as the thread does not degenerate further into a flamefest or into graphic or seriously inappropriate discussion, I'll let it keep on with close supervision.

You can always request your own threads closed or deleted (and it will be done), but for another thread, it either has to be a spamfest, a flamefest, or something clearly and significantly outside the rules for me to kill it.

Good answer MtG, I couldn't have said it better. There are many subjects that are boarderline for discussing in the OTF. They could go either way depending on the responses. In this case, it went the wrong way, so it was closed.
