PAL: Attitude Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

I created this poll/thread to get an official Apolyton view on how we should act towards PAL. To actually decide on this, would increase the efficiency of all Foreign Affairs concerning PAL.

I would think the answer would be obvious. As allies would should work closely together, with frequent information sharing.

Hm. I'm voting for 4, but I really mean about 4.5 Give techs to them when they request them and we have no good reason not to, let them in on info that is nice to know but not really classified, like that we have just built a new city, what CDG is doing, barb locations and movements....

There should be no issue with any of this. I don't want to (and don't think it's necessary at all) to go overboard by telling them our settlement plans (unless we need to work out a possible clash) or troop numbers/movements etc. And if we have a good reason not to give them a certain tech (eg if we knew CDG had an SGL and was hoping to get, say, Maths soon to rush the SoZ, then we might decline for a time to givft Maths to PAL as it would mean the tech cost dropped for CDG), then we should tell them what the reason is and let them know when we do expect to be able to give it to them.

'Tis nothing but courtesy to allies.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

There is no doubt that we should be friendly and outgoing with PAL ... that is how we should behave in any alliance. We should behave the same way CDG.

The real question is how much do we actually trust PAL and how long do we think they will honor our alliance. That's really what I want to know. I'm unclear on how this team views the long-term potential of the PAL alliance. It may be an alliance exists throughout this game and into the next. It may only last until the end of CDG.

I don't think we can say anything about post-CDG right now. When we are closer to the time of attack we will have a better handle on things, and it is possible we will have been able to scope out where the other continent is. If we can get the full map of this continent that will mark a point we can really start to plan anything like an attack on PAL or whether it will be better to try to keep them as allies for longer. If we find we can easily cut off some resources of theirs, then we have a potential plan, but if their lands are plainly superior to ours then we face a different choice - attack quickly before they take full advantage of their lands, or keep them on our side long enough to eliminate someone else.

I'm starting to ramble here, so I just really want to say that we can't make decisions that long just yet, IMO. Signing up until the death of CDG is long enough until we know more, and until we have an army.

My hope is this will be a game long alliance propelling us into the finals. And Im hoping our cooperation here will pay dividends in the final game as well. As you all know, I have been one of the biggest PAL advocates.

However, I do agree that we are not at the point where we can completely trust them. If we ever can get to that point with an ally.
