	War-Chat schedules Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

Next turn we will be at war. Since war is fun and we all love it, it would be cool to have many people present in the chat so we can debate each move before executing it. Unlike the last war, we really don't have any actual "plans" (other than attacking Ruhrpott on the 2nd turn) which means we will adjust our strategy each turn as things develop.

The more input we get, the better.


Currently the consulship sticks with the turn-playing schedule of either 3pm EDT or 8pm EDT, whichever comes first (usually we play with the latter). Unfortunately the 8pm time is not very friendly on the Europeans who are asleep and 3pm is not friendly on the Americans who are at work. We also have to consider WIA's likely consulship since it would be best if all 3 consuls were present.

So, please propose a flexible schedule for playing the war turns. Personally I think the 8pm time would be best for weekdays with 3pm for the weekends but that's just me.

I think the chat schedule idea is great - and it may help rekindle some of the spirit that has take a few hits as of late.

As to time - why can't the world simply use one big time zone, then we wouldn't have this problem. Oh right. That night and day thing.

As to the time thing - what about the 5pm EDT range. (1700 edt or 2200 GMT) That puts it at 10 pm in England, and 11pm in Europe. I appreciate that this probably sucks for Australia and New Zealand - and still makes it tough for the west coast of US/Canada.

It's impossible for people on the west coast, since it's 1:00 P.M. for them.

Euh... we're on daylight savings. And you, too, by the way.

Right now: 1700 EDT = 2100 GMT/UTC = 2200 British = 2300 Mid-Europe time.

I think 1400 for the USA's west coast is better than having it at night for all of Europe (I'm biased, of course). Also, it'll be 1000 (AM) for New Zealand.

Whatever you decide, just post it somewhere that is clear and easy fore everybody to find. As I don't get the save, I don't even know what days such chat are to be held.... so for me it has in the past been nothing more than chance if I encounter one.

Start it up around 8pm Eastern. Prime Time.

That should give the East Coasters plenty of hours of viewing, give us West Coasters time to arrive fashionably late and join in, and give the Kiwi an opportunity to participate as well.

I already came up with a time that should allow at least daytime for everyone involved in the US, New Zealand and Europe time zones. Shifting it to 8PM EDT would make that midnight in Western Europe. And that's only the start of the chat.

'Everyone' in NZ? Meaning ME! I guess you could count the Aussies there too - that's sort of a lesser part of NZ, isn't it Hot_E?

Sadly weekday times are out for me most of the time between 8am and 5 or 6pm my time (er, between 1600 and 0200 EDT or 2000 and 0600 GMT) due to the PhD cranking up a lot during the day. I will be on to chat occasionally during these times though, but will not often be able to chat in depth.

Weekends are usually a bit more available, but for 5 birthday parties in the next 2 weekends, the need to find and move to a new flat, and maybe some other stuff. So I may not be all that involved in playing the save if it is to be held when more people are around. I would be best for doing things whilst others sleep though, as I can cover times when all you Northerners have succumbed to exhaustion. These may be few between, but when we have finished the invasion part and there is little excitement happening I will be able to handle saves alone late at night where necessary to keep things moving.

WIA and I still have to work during the day. Even if a chat started at 8pm Eastern (Prime Time), I wouldn't even be able to join in until 9pm Eastern, due to my work.

Ultimately, it should come down to the turnplayers. We should find a time that Kloreep, MZ, and WIA can all manage.

9pm eastern is no problem for me, even 10-11pm eastern. Heck, I usually go to sleep around 3am eastern so it's no biggie for me
