How can you tell how many cities you have built? Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I am trying to find where you can go to say find how many cities have been built, without having to "count" them individually.

In the Military advisor you can go and click on units and tell then how many tanks, marines, artllery, ect. are available and also if upgradeable.

I just want a place I can go and say I have "-blank-" cities

Thanks

Tired of ads?

I'm afraid there is no such count that I know of.

The F1 screen helps with the counting, though.

Suffering from ads?

No way, so if you find it a useful fact, then I would rename each city as you founded it to append a sequencial count. I only use this on huge sid maps as I often need to know how many more cities I need to build or create another army.

It would have been nice to inclued a sort by founding with a running count.

Got spare money?

If you have an active unit, Ctrl-Shft-G will show you a list of cities on that continent. You still have to count, but it is the easiest way that I know.

The easiest way to count them is using MapStat. But if you only want to have a rough guess, unit support may help.

Definetely miss the improvement costs from Civ2 - a good reason to have Barracks in every singleltown

Just count them you lazy arse

I just use the F1 screen or whatever. I think there are 9 per screen, so then you scroll it down and you can figure it out faster.

But this should be on the wish list for civ4.

In despotism and communism, unit support will give you the number quickly and easily. In other governments, aside from democracy, you can use unit support and a hand count of cities and metros (go to F1 and sort by population) to back into the total number.

If you are in Despotism or Communism, you could just get number of cities by dividing number of free units by 4 or 6.

I use the method described above sort of like this:

1. Press F1
2. Press Page Down, and count the number of times you press it until reaching the end of the cities list.
3. Multiply the number of times you pressed Page Down by 9.
4. Add to this figure whatever number of cities is listed on the final page.

The only time it may get confusing is when you have 9 cities on the last page - you won't know it's the last page, so you will have probably have to do it over.

The more you use this method, the easier it becomes, and pretty soon you don't really need to think about it much.

I tried SCROLL LOCK on & off with above mentioned combos..nothing..

Hmm... the page down key didn't scroll through the list?

I'll check into this again later today - in the meantime, you're sure you have more than 9 cities, right?

If you do, then can you at least scroll through the cities using the mouse? If so, then you might be able to count mouse clicks - which I'll confirm later.

Just click the bar below the slider to page down. Take note, though, of whether the top city after clicking was the bottom city on the page before or not.

If your cities are all on one landmass, and you have your advanced buttons visible, click the “Go To” button on one of your units. It will show you all of your cities in nicely arranged easy to count/calculate rows without having to scroll.

Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

I assume he means this:

Click it once, and it moves the view downwards, a page or so, just like you regular windows-application sidebar.

I suppose, one could also just press the arrow key down on one's keyboard, and count the pressings, then ad the last 9 cities to the sum.
