Is this possible to have Metropolis or territory borders? Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

I thought it would be kewl, as I am writing stories along with my scenario playing, I thought would be neat to say like in the US where you have States within the Continental US..

I was thinking would be sweet if you could say connect say 3-5 cities with a border..basically like you have many units and can call it an Army Name you could take three-5 cities and call it ONSLOW COUNTY and combine the resources to make it a single community whereas before it was 3-5 individual settlements/cities..

Just thinking outloud is all..

What would the advantage of having a "county" or state where certain cities exist in?

And why would that be useful to implement, just sounds like a customization feature to fullfill one's own civ fantasies.

And once again, where is the picture Grandpa Troll?

The advantage would be like "Pooling resources" to make one big epiccenter of sorts..

Umm my "Fantasies' detail the use of a certain little known technique when applying pressure to the....

UMM..better stop there..

Ok..just my "ideas" and for real, NO ONE ELSE playing CIV has Fantasies of running a country HIS/HER own way..

What?

Are you talking about combining three near-by cities into a district province or state, in order to 1) produce units faster and 2) combine commerce?

I guess it could offer advantages to bigger empires, making it easier concentrate your empire's production on military units and such.

Did you mean?

I think I realize what you are trying to say. I think you are talking about metropolitan areas, consisting of multiple cities and their suburbs.

Many cities in the U.S. like Dallas and FT Worth have combined their cities into districts where they are working together. Thus the DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth) area consisting of Dallas and Forth Worth and their suburbs.

I guess if they were to implement this, there should be various requirments in order to form a metropolitan district between two or three cities. Like population, need to be over 1 million, and infrastructure, needs to be a road or some type of transportation between them.

Also, location would be extremely important, they would have to be at most 4 squares and at least 1 square from each other.

Yes you would, in essence "Incorporate" the 3-5 cities and maybe call it whatever then all the production could make it a big happy Metroplois, thriving and mass producing it heart out!!

Ok..Thats a wrap, I reckon

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

there would definitely have to be a limit (maybe even a cost to this as well) since it could often turn into people bringing 8 or so cities together so they can just build an ICBM once a turn, or build a wonder really fast.. something of that sort.

I agree..
Now were talking this out:

Maybe like each city has to have a:

1) Hospital
2) Factory
3) One Wonder (or small wonder) in at least one of the cities
4) Each of the cities has to be a minimum "X" turns old (to prevent a person from starting a bunch of cities)
5) A Police Station each city

Just thinking out loud here..

Peace

Like I said, there should be a distance and population limite to making a metropolitan area.

Why should there be a wonder requirement?

Population would discount the requirments of age and needing a hopital. A city needing at least to be level 24 (over 1 million citizens).

Would the metropolitan area combine their commerce?

I think you should only be allowed to make units with the combined power of a metropolitan area, wonders and city improvements could complicate it way too much on placement.

Mabye there should be a metropolitan improvement you could make, like highways and national airports. Or even tourism improvements, like a local landmark.
