That would give greater advantage to a player the earlier in the turn order they are (more options).

There are two systems similar to this that give no advantage to any of the players over another;

*Each player plays each save through the first turn, ranks them 1-X, and play continues with the save that has the lowest total.

or
*One save is sent and each player has the option to veto it during the first turn. If they do, a completely new game is generated and everyone who hasn't vetoed in this game previously still has that as an option on the first turn.

Its no different to everyone playing all the turns and then people publicly vetoing in order. SO if anyone, its the last person in the sequence who gets the biggest advantage as they get to save their veto to the end - others may veto the one they would have vetoed earlier in the round.

Your first option sounds good though. See which system people would want to use. If they sign up.

I like the ranking myself

And yes I am signing up

Not sure what civ yet, but I'm thinking wet, warm, any billion, and random barbs. Is that 5-6 palyers altogehter or are we filling the slots out with AI? For 5-6 players, standard should be sufficient size, but maybe large if AI are filling out hte list.

I like the ranking. I'll sign up.

I'm open to pretty much whatever map conditions, but please don't make the map larger than standard for the sake of managing larger empires later in the game.

I'd say no AI; with fewer AIs than humans, whoever winds up a neighbor of an AI could have the advantage assuming conditions are right to bully and then conquer it. But this isn't a sticking point for me.

Assuming no AI, I'd prefer Regent difficulty; less corruption and 2 citizens born content. If we do have AI, we should probably raise the difficulty higher than that to make the AI competitive.

Well, we seem to have 5 players.

Considering we'll have lots of starts to choose from, I'm leaning toward going with Zard's suggestion of all random. We'll get lots of different settings that way for our various starts.

For my civ, I'd like to go with Egypt, barring map settings such as archipelago that make other traits like seafaring obvious choices.

Zord - Arabs
Makahlua - ?????
Kloreep - Egyptians
Bogor - ???????
Rowick Hepan - Mayans

Random map settings. Standard size. No AIs.

Can I have a confirmation of your time zones so I can set the games up in a east to west fashion.

Should we make this a large map, or keep it at a cramped 7 on a regular?

Not sure where this game is at - but if someone has bowed out already - I would be interested.

Any system for map selection works for me.

Beta, you can be in regardless, just need a civ choice. If there are 8 on a small map will provide some early wars to whittle us down.

I'll go for Persia please. If 8 players, standard size map would probably be best. But I agree that a small map would make for interesting gameplay

Game created - 4 saves to choose from. I've heard nothing back from Bogor, so its 7 of us in this one. Bogor, if you show up and want to be in another game, I'll join in.

Let me know if you have any problems with the set-ups. Probably best to PM your rankings to me, else last person may end up having the choice of game we play on with. I will only make a selection in a tiebreaker, else I forego my vote.

Dauphin - so two questions. How are we ranking the saves - 1-4 with 1 being our MOST favoured civ?

Secondly - what is the play order? It would be best if you posted it in the first post (via edit) in this thread. Folks always know where to find it then.

Also that allows the next person in the play order to PM the person ahead of them to ensure they have the e-mail to send it to.

Thanks for setting this up. Looking forward to reviewing the saves.

Rank them 1-4. Rank #1 being your first choice and #4 being your last choice. When ranks added up the game save with the lowest total gets played.
