I noticed earlier that the 10,000 plateau had been reached. Now, for some strange reason, it is back below 10,000. 9948 right now. Odd.

Maybe reindexing of the user database. The actual user count (which does not reduce) has been over 10,000 well before 10,000 registered users appeared. If you clean out logons and reindex, the number of registered users should go down, but the numeric user id doesn't - it always increments by one for each new user registered.

Quite a few DL's are legitimate. Technically, I'm probably one. I registered way early, never got around to posting, hardly ever lurked, then registered and posted at alpha.owo By the time I actually felt like posting something here, I had long since forgotten my old account name, and password, and I didn't have the same ISP, so my mail account was long gone. My old name may be in the database still - if I ran across it, I'd probably remember.

Other DL's happen from forum crashes, or newbies who register one name, don't like it, so they immediately register another.

Then there's the bulk of garden variety, BS, fun and games DL's, and there's just a ton of those.
