how do I start a regular old game on earth? Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

I just picked up Civ III Gold and I can't figure out what combination of map/options to use to get a plain old game on Earth, with all civilizations at their historically accurate starting point. I'm trying to play as America, and in my first attempt I wound up with the French on my continent, and in the second the Iroquois were at the right place but the Indians were chilling up around Canada as well. I've tried this on the two Earth maps that come with the game, as well as the Kal-El Earth maps that come with the Gold edition. Any ideas?

I suppose you need to have a scenario using that map, which places the starting units at the correct places.

Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

Just go into the editor and whack the start locations into place. Failing that try the download sections on this site or civfanatics.

I always mod those and manually choose all the civilization starting periods. although i may add mixing them up, as it will be really unbalanced with a bunch of little european/middle east countries and civs like zulu all by themselves.

I personally put the european countries in their "colonial" place, like spain in south america, britain in australia, france in north africa, and then leave some middle east countries out. yes, i know this doesnt make perfect sense, but it helps balance it out some.

It still just feels "right" to have everyone in the correct place.

As much as I love poly, civfanatics seems to have a better download area.

check this link out. you will have to run these as scenarios to get the correct starting position, something I don't like doing. But it's not a big deal though. But I think theses games don't count for your hall of fame. And HOF means a lot to me.

the sticky thread at the top has a directory, making finding earth maps vvery easy.
