Well, yeah- I'm starting to get the hang of this fatherhood thing. I can change the diapers and clean his butt in less than a second now

Might get some time this weekend, no promises though. We just got a new fireplace installed(winter is approaching) and it need some paint before we can use it.

He will be 4 months tomorrow, he hasn't doubled his weight quite yet but going from 4.5kg to over 8 ain't that bad either


Have you been following the war threads from PTWDG1? Losing 2 years worth of team-work can't be healthy. I'm glad I'm not a legoman now. How would a game like this work emotionally you think? Would the 'we're all in the same boat'-feeling of being an underling outweigh the eventual hardship of losing?

No sledding yet, he can't sit on his own yet, even when I place him with his back to something(like on the picture) he'll fall over. He's improving with an almost frightening pace though.


Oh, not much snow left now anyway, most of it has melted away.

I don't personally get so emotional in these games. I'm genuinely surprise how upset folks can get over losing, or over....diplomatic abnormalities ....sometimes. Ironically, it is those reactions that tend to get me fired up more often than anything else...

Depends on many things I guess, I've got my ass handed to me on a silver platter and enjoyed it in one PBEM, while I've won another and only felt happy because I knew I wouldn't recieve more saves...


Oh, made another testrun on this game yesterday (run #5, first since september), it seems like the difficulty issue is all but solved

I'm not sure if the result of hut-popping is where they should be according to difficulty, and the lack of barbs is annoying, but that could very well be the result of me being impatient as I ended the testrun at 3100bc.

At least I am moving again

Civs= 0 of 1*
Starting positions/starter packs= 0*
Difficulty= Huts maybe too nice (can be ignored)
Barbs= Too few? Needs more testing. (cannot be ignored)

The first or second try was actually quite close to being finished but testing revealed scores of bugs. So I had to start from scratch again

As the bugs persisted my enthusiasm just burned out...

I don't know about you, but I invest far more effort in DGs (ones I'm active in, that is) than in PBEMs. Should a DG team I'm doing domestics for be overrun, it may be interesting to see how I react, but I am sure I'm not that invested in my PBEMs.

Time to make this official:

Further development has been permanently put on hold.


Two major reasons for this. One is time. Being a father and husband don't mix well with excessive civvin'.

The other is lack of enthusiasm. After the initial enthusiasm burnt itself out fighting bugs, very little has happened. Except that the lack of enthusiams has spread. Civ is simply not the fun it once was. Maybe my enthusiasm for civ will return with civ4.

Until then, I will finish the PBEMs I have going already and play my part in various demogames but I will put up a valiant struggle against anyone who tries to drag me into yet another game.




Sorry to have kept you waiting in vain.
