	Evil Overlord PBEM, call for players/moders Full PM-box? Change here!

While sorting some old civ-related emails in my inbox I suddenly got a nice idea for a PBEM with a twist.

I intend to set up a game with myself acting as the Evil Overlord, and 5 other players(the underlings) whose ultimate goal is to destroy me.


To make up for the difference in numbers, the Evil Overlord will recieve Better land, enough resources, more than 2 traits(if possible), multiple UUs....anything neccessary to make sure he is strong enough to have a decent change even in the long run. On the other hand, the Evil Overlord will also be carefully handicapped to make sure he doesn't pull off to an early victory.


Paddy the Scot has already volunteered as one of the Underlings. I need 4 other players that are willing to accept the challenge and are able to play on a daily basis(being able to play 25 days in a normal month is good enough for me)


I could also need some help with setting up the game. To be specific I need help with balancing. I don't want a setup that will guarantee either side an easy victory.


Game will be played with c3c, latest patch.

As for balance: If all the underlings are in an effective locked alliance against you, you're going to be in a WORLD of hurt. I'm not sure balance is going to be that much of a problem when figuring out what traits and UUs you get. Other bonuses like extra units or better land will probably need to be watched more carefully, though.

Seriously, I already have a rough draft on what I intend to do, and how, but I need to sort out the balancing first. Most normal PBEMs last some 6-18 months anyway so I figure I can spend a week or two to get the balancing right.

It will be standard or large map, I'll maybe trow in a couple of AIs to give you some punching bags

I'll make the map myself, giving me an advantage in exploring I won't have in-game map-knowledge though, so I won't be able to track city builds etc.

Hopefully some exerienced modder will volunteer to comment on my setup

Oh, I was thinking of moving map-exhange back to mapmaking, as in PTW/vanilla.

BTW, are we underlings under standard rules of no OOG contact till in-game contact, or are we going to be allowed to communicate before we meet up?

I'd vote for not allowing pre-in-game contact, but moving contact trading back to a tech in the ancient age; perhaps Writing like it used to be.

Ok then, I expect this to be a rough and dirty game. I will not tolerate things like hex-editing, excessive reloads, password cracking and bug exploits in general.


Apart from that, write your own rules

I intend to move map-trade back to mapmaking, I can move contacts as well if there are a demand for that.

Final draft of the map is now ready.

Time to add starting locations, modify techs, etc.

Would The Underlings be so Kind as to post their email-addresses and playing times? Either here or directly to me in a PM.


First a word to the paranoids.
It has been known for years now that 'robots' search the net for valid email-addresses for sending SPAM and other malicious avtivities. People has responded to this threat by obfuscating their emails in a manner that is easily dealt with by other humans ( like Firstname.Lastname AT domain DOT com )

Sadly, search robots has arrived that are able to deal with some of the simpler form of obfuscations. So I advice you to take obfuscation to the next level
