I will have to agree. The greatest cinematic acheivement of the past 25 years has to be BJ and The Bear

Btw, if I may withstand the pummelling, I would like to declare once and for all:

I was thinking more because he's a closet snuff film pervert.

Speaking of movies, Harold and Kumar Go to Whitecastle is lame as hell, and I lost a bundle on it at the Hollywood Stock Exchange. Like, $500K.

Suffering from ads?

Naw, I thought The Passion to be one of the more artistically honest American films of all time. Like it or dislike it, you definitely left the theater knowing exactly what it is that the director was trying to say, what his take on the subject was. To Gibson, the central message of Christianity is that Christ suffered for our sins... not that he was miraculously born of a virgin, not that he was resurrected into heaven, but that he suffered. I can allow as to how the film isn't for everybody (hell, it isn't even really for me, given that I'm not a Christian, don't like True Believerism in any ideology/religion, and don't enjoy watching people suffer), but the fact remains that the film definitely got its message across, a message untainted by studio execs, script doctors, and the like.

Undercover Brother is a fun movie, although Chris Kattan almost totally ruined it (as he does everything he touches).

Regardless, JohnT has what I would generally consider bad taste in movies.

Bah, blasphemy! It was a masterpiece. Whatever happened to the cultured, intellectual Boris Godunov who listens to Brahms and Ludwig Van? That Boris I once knew would have appreciated Harold and Kumar's genius.

* Adagio ignores most of the posts in this thread (too lazy to read them all at this time)

From what I read, here's what I've got to answer:

1) I never rent movies... I either buy it or "find" it
2) When I buy, it's always DVD
3) Groundhog Day is a "Shame-on-you-if-you-haven't-seen-it-yet" movie... I wouldn't say this movie is to guys only, but it's certainly not to girls only
4) Weekend at Bernies 2 is defently fun, but go see the first one first
5) The best movie for this year (of what I've seen) is The Day after Tomorrow

My VCR broke down about 3 years ago and I never bothered to replace it, neither do I own a dvd player.

I'll be watching master & commander and the last samurai this week, hee, I'm still pretty much up to date.

I've recently signed up at an online DVD rental place (Because of the month's free trial) and used it to rent all those movies I wanted to see but never wanted to pay for- Daredevil, Tomb Raider 2, Identitiy, Peter Pan- and all of them have sucked so far. A winner is me!

Well I'd have probably seen them sooner or later, and I may have ended up seeing them when I don't have so much free time, or at a time when I'm unable to fast-forward through Ben Affleck's sex-scene in Daredevil...

Monkie, monkie, monkie...I'm so disappointed.

H&K was uninspired. There wasn't a single original joke. It was just a string of stoner film cliches. I love all the talk about it being a "groundbreaking" film for minorities, when in fact the first stoner film was Cheech & Chong Up in Smoke... which stars a Hispanic and a half-Chinese guy.

I don't understand what the H&K deal is...it's really a mediocre film. I can't think of one joke in it that hasn't been done somewhere else.

1. I disliked it, so obviously it didn't fit my taste.
2. It is getting overall positive reviews:

(Note that when I went to see it, which was Friday, the overall rating was at 85%)
