Naw, I thought The Passion to be one of the more artistically honest American films of all time. Like it or dislike it, you definitely left the theater knowing exactly what it is that the director was trying to say, what his take on the subject was. To Gibson, the central message of Christianity is that Christ suffered for our sins... not that he was miraculously born of a virgin, not that he was resurrected into heaven, but that he suffered. I can allow as to how the film isn't for everybody (hell, it isn't even really for me, given that I'm not a Christian, don't like True Believerism in any ideology/religion, and don't enjoy watching people suffer), but the fact remains that the film definitely got its message across, a message untainted by studio execs, script doctors, and the like.
