A border dispute has arisen between the honorable Dutch and the Maya. It concerns the placement of the iron city Harlem, which is within the Mayan sphere of influence, but settled by the Dutch after diplomatic agreement from the Maya.
The Dutch settled further up the pennisula than the Maya agreed to allow.
Further, Mayan attempts to negotiate a 20-turn peace have not met with success. So, the iron-for-peace aspect of the deal that appealed to our lazy military leaders no longer looks important.
Still, we regard the dispute as a minor matter and hope it won't grow into a major war.
If the Dutch will give the town to the Maya, the Maya will allow the iron flow to continue for a modest price.

yet another misunderstanding... and it took you nearly 20 turns to notice this??? did you have to wait until i rushed the harbour??????????
and about the rolling 20-turn peace treaty: i thought we had agreed on that a long time ago!
anyway, netherlands will give in to this bullying trusting that the mayan will keep their promise: iron for a modest price. this of course means, that iron gets traded and isn't just cancelled because of war
at this point i'd also like to publicly express my disapproval of the misleadings and misinformation being done in this game. i have been left out of the loop several times in tech trades and agreements have "conveniently" been misunderstood. though (so far) no promises have been broken, i still think it a very dirty style of playing
games like these make me dislike multiplaying for it's not the civ3-skills that count anymore but just literary and convincing things.
