	Worst sequel ever Increase Your PM Length

... what sequel do you hate the most... and why?

Let me guess... Civ3 and Moo3 will be mentioned



Until recently I've thought that The Settlers III + IV was the worst sequels ever made, because they've taken lots of the good stuff out of the game... but now that I've read more about The Settlers V I've changed my mind... S5 is now (or at least it seems like it) the worst sequel ever... sure, I haven't played it, but from what I've read, this game has only 2 things in common with the earlier Settlers games: The name and the time it's played in
There's a huge battle going on in the offical Settlers boards: Most people wants Settlers to be taken of the name...
They've now included heroes (which I hate), they disabled goods-transport (which was one of main reasons to play The Settlers), while they've put lots of effort in the war... and they've totally killed the graphics... sure the graphics looks great, but it doesn't have the Settlers feel... The Settlers has always been about comics, now it's too realistic

I'm not saying the game will suck, I'm just saying it has nothing to do with the first 4 Settlers games... Dune 1 and Dune 2 had more in common, and they're totally different genres*


*Or at least I've been told... I've never played Dune 1

Roller Coaster Tycoon II... not because it was bad per se, but just because it was identical to the original. Just a few extra rides and buildings...

Jep, it was more like an expansion pack... but at least it didn't change anything in the game (of important 'ideas'), so it kept to the original idea

Seriously, I'm not sure. Robocop 2 was pretty shoddy, but it was the same as the original, and only looked so bad because Robocop 3 was such a step forward.

Of course you should compare it to the first games, not the later games... if GameName 1 was boring* and GameName 2 was just as boring*, then it's not the sequel that fails

	Increase the size of your Attachments

Pool of Radiance 2. Its a clear winner. The way it formatted your C Drive when you uninstalled it was genius.

Deus Ex 2. Some bad sequels (MOO3) were made after a long period of time and by different people. You can't really expect too much from that. Deus Ex was made by the same guys who just ended up selling out.

Deadly serious.

You really CAN'T beat that.

Also it was a D&D game that didn't let you play as a Wizard or a Bard, and seemed to take place in a vast pitchblack dungeon with hundreds of identical rooms. Then there were the zombies (very slow moving in turn-based battles) and the fact that Ubisoft had divided all xp gained by 10, to make the game last longer. It was PAINFUL. So I tried to uninstall it, as did thousands of others.

AAAAAAAGH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

This was fixed by the FOURTH patch, can you believe.

Wonderful. First of the Gold Box games, a great classic on the Amiga and pre-windows DOS. Started the golden era of PC gaming for me.

Lands Of Lord III was right up there, MooIII was bigger disappointment, but was not as crappy as LoD III.

Dune is a first person adventure game with few tbs aspects. Dune II was the first classical rts.

RAilroad Tycoon 3 was a big disappointment as was one of the more recent Battle Isles games but i can't remember which one

ALso the transition to Championship Manager 3 was painful but i was eventually converted.

That would probably be Battle Isle 4 IIRC... but 2 and 3 was sucking too, since they somehow killed the controls... Long live Battle Isle 1


I even beta tested Battle Isle 4 (if the 4th one is the one in 3D)... the beta test was 90% about mp, but I never got the mp part of the game working... and the other people I talked to who was in the beta had the same problem

I'm going to go out on a limb, but Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance. It was a fine game on it's own, but compared to its predecessor, it just couldn't hold up.
