	A NEW City Name Tired of ads?

Ok, we have a new city being planted this next turn.

Lets see the votes.

I have set the poll for 5 days, yet the consuls may choose to stop the poll prior to that if they need the city name before this deadline.

At such times they should take the name with the highest votes

My apologises if there are any names here that have been used... I will fix that when I get home tonight

Artemis: goddess of the hunt and protector of children

Hephaistos: god of smiths and metal-workers

Dionysos: god of wine, mysteries, and the theatre (a must for a wine city if we have more nearby; good place to home Shakespeare's if we get that far )

Hermes: Messenger of the Gods

Odysseus: A Very Resourceful Traveler

Rheia: Mother of the Olympians

Styx: The Oath River

Right next to horses.
On the ocean.

No offence, but aren't these names better for units?

they possible are better for Units, yet they were all submitted to the City Name thread

also it is a good thing to name our settlements after the very Gods that look out for us all very honourable to them

Hermes and Artemis seem to me the two appropriate names. But which one...?

I'd like to suggest a slight varition on a proposed name. Since this is the horse city, why not something like 'Stable of Odysseus'? Taking the idea that Odysseus was a traveller, and that this city will provide us with horses, I'd think this is a good name.

Artemis doesn't strike me as a good city name unless we are planning on building her Temple in that city. Otherwise more of a name for a military unit who's primary responsibly is garision / police / protecting workers from barbs.

Hephaistos would be much more approative for a city with Iron, Saltpeter, or if the game lasted long enough, Coal in it. Also a very approative name for a worker.

I think Dionysos should be saved for a city closer to wine.

I think Styx should be saved for a city with a river.

I think Odysseus would be a better name for a (sucide) galley.

Rheia would be better for a mountainous city without resources.

Hermes seems to fit into the theme for horses. Especeally if "Stable of " is added to the front.

The problem is every time he gets drunk, he hits the "leave Civgroup Link" vice the "private Forum" link.
