88. Chlg 88 Dimytes vs. Mathemagician; Started Apr-2004 -- In progress.
Dimytes wins a tough match that was exciting till the very last moment, when his ALP came online on turn 215.
i disovered it on my last turn, but had spent too much troops on other candidate cities already.
had i noticed some of my units earlier, i might have discovered the lab earlier. but it was not to be.
btw, mine would have been done on turn 218.
a big CONGRATS to Dimytes !
im too knocked out and busy for a rematch now, but watch out.

Granpa Troll and Blackgryffin,
I just now got a look at this thread for the last few days. Regarding Troll's request to give Blackgryffin all the wins. I would strongly suggest just cancelling all of your matches, instead of doing it your requested way. Then just start one new match under fair settings as Blackice has offered. (Two or more simultaneous matches with the same player is, in my opinion, too many.) Let me know if this is agreeable to both of you.
We all have different senses of humor. I think I understand Grandpa Troll's humor better than others . But sometimes humor to one, is an insult to another. I hope that Troll and Blackgryffin will not stay sore at each other for long. Our CTP group here is few enough in number to make us all kind of like FAMILY.

Im kewl
Look please remove my one win
I dun want it
I believe for now since it is the general feeling and consensus that I was shooting ducks in a barrel, I wasnt and as for having 5 games with one person I am up for it anytime, I am just an old Multitasker at heart
Ok
Like I said I played whom wanted to from top to bottom and in between and me has a $0re @r$e to prove I took all the whoopings like a man
Ok
Peace
and for real, one last thing, yeah I said something that was taken offensive about the US having to save France during WW2, that sparked some debate..but go to OT and be an American, but be thick skinned American because non-Americans like to pick on the US for this and that
Anyway
Im sorry for whatever I did, or didnt do or will do or wont do
Heck
Im just a dumb@$$ that speaks whats on his heart and well...if I overstepped what was deemed appropriate then I simply joined the rest
I did not play Blackygryffin to pad my wins I did so to Play and play a lot
If you track when I reallly got into PBEM it was when no server files for MP were available
I took Blackices suggestion, to get involved
I did
I am sorry that by agreeing to play everyone/anyone it was misconstrued
Ok
Peace

i didnt mean that you're doing this for the win column, Troll. i was just kidding about that.
if this were some other rating system, maybe. but this ladder is not about how often you win, but about who you beat. of course if you had 5 games running vs. berXpert, that would be suspicious.

i'm surprised that as usually, thoughts and words are flying everywhere without any direction
the fact is this is a gaming forum : not a political one and another fact is that there is a huge difference between being proud of his nationality and blasting about historical facts ...
quote: and for real, one last thing, yeah I said something that was taken offensive about the US having to save France during WW2, that sparked some debate..but go to OT and be an American, but be thick skinned American because non-Americans like to pick on the US for this and that

this kind of sentence is a pure delirium. If i remember, americans didn't always make nice things in their history ( like many many other countries ) and i see no one here to remember them how violents they were with amerindiens, the orange agent (napalm) which still causes today horrible malformations to new born chidren in Vietnam whithout speaking about the slavery and how they denied basic rights to a big part of their population, only because they were colored, and more recently, how "interesting" it was to see american soldiers practice tortures even sexual ones on some iraki bodies ... Who could be proud of this ?
I say similar things about France who sold some jewish people during WW2, and about french soldiers who made torture in a rational way 40 years ago in Algeria war. Who could be proud of this ?
and everyone of every country could say something similar ... that is we call history ... and history is not always as honorable as we wish ... this is a fact.
So : i still don't understand the only one man paranoia here, in a gaming forum when i read :
quote: but be thick skinned American because non-Americans like to pick on the US for this and that |
I fully agree with each one has its own opinion but please, spare my eyes and my brain to read such non sense stuff here, in a non political forum !!!
we started about complains about the lack of speed in pbem turns and here we are now !
shame on me to have followed the threads of foolish words of an ignorant.

If you want to discuss the horrors of nations, (admit it, ALL countries can be ashamed for something their countrymen did at some time or other), I ask you to please take it to another thread or offline.
Alright Math, I accept your challenge! I only ask that we use no modifications whatsoever, with the exception of "no ruins" if you wish. You can set it up if you like. Let me know what settings you like and we'll see if we can come to an agreement.
I'll update the ladder later today with the latest wins (and change requests).

no modifications ? no growth/bombarb messages ?
okay, but that means i will have to double check each turn if my cities grew and if you bombarded me.
thus, the turn flow might be a little worse in the later stages.
i will email you with a settings proposal later on. i suggest 8 civs, seats 6 and 8 to even out starting positions. unless you have a better (non-dual duel) idea.

Okay. The most "even" non-dual-duel settings I have seen are the standard settings with the two changes of making the WET/DRY slider all the way WET, and the HOT/COLD slider all the way HOT. Very even settings without all the idiot a/i's running around like chickens with their heads cut off.
Math, if those are the only two "mods" you are talking about and you are SURE they won't cause errors later in the game, then go ahead. No farm/mine under city though. Sorry. We're trying to move away from that bug here. I know I know, there are other bugs that are allowed, but those can't be monitored nor controlled, e.g. pathing, or granting an advance just to see if your opponent has that advance yet. Those are our little free spies!

ah, dont worry about farm under city. im not so attached to it after all.
as for the slider settings. thats ok. we could use hatschy's kill AI mod too to get rid of AIs. this would then also allow us to play any seats without AIs. your decision.
my script.slc for more messages...
well, i cant swear that it doesnt cause problems, just that it shouldn't.
occasionally the save file doesnt load, but
a) i had that without the mod too i think
b) it can be circumvented by re-saving the file from the email or rebooting the PC if it should happen. the only occasion where that didnt help was when the other one (blackgryffin) had a Mac. but he figured a solution out somehow too. dont ask me which one.
so, your slider settings if you like, my script.slc, possibly hatschys kill AI mod and any number of turn-0-death AIs ?

Okay Math. Your slic is fine. Kill the a/i is fine too. Standard settings with the sliders mentioned above for fairness. And no bug use. Anything else? If not, go ahead and set it up. Thanks!
