Hypnos will not be able to make horseman. The horses will be connected after 3 turns (1225 BC) and the archer will be completed. This means we don't need 8spt in this city.

Hypnos will be at 8spt for one turn, which was last turn. It borrowed the cows for a turn. THIS turn we'll move the wf back to grasslands where Hypnos will be at 6spt for this turn and next turn: 8 + 6 + 6 = 20 (Archer).

No horseman, obviously. Won't be ready in time.

I will be gone (going to Chicago) on Friday and Saturday. Major thing if the save is back is to switch the cows from Hypnos to Poly. Everything else can wait.

Tired of ads?

I reckon Anthea (1hp, S of a Barb camp) should skip until it's healed, and then take the camp on. It is in no danger from barb attack, blocking the only way for any from the camp to move to, directly S.

Hoplite Bel(lerophon) is wounded at 2hp, and I think should move North onto the Mountain to scout the forward terrain before healing, unless it is going to return East towards Poly. Personally I think Bel should head to immediately SE of the fortified barb warrior W of Poly to tempt it into attacking and impaling itself on our superior Greek Spears.

Archer Zeno is in prime position to move to join Roads R Us and Ajax this turn, meaning it can attack the fortified barb warrior nextdoor the following turn. If not Archer Alcaeus could head there instead.

I'm not sure of the exactness of GK's plans, but...

Naked Aphro will run a surplus of 2 shields + what it needs to finish the barracks next turn, so we can reorganise wf from the current 2, 19 to 1, 2, allowing Poseidon's Harbour to work the mined bonus grass instead, for a loss of one gold but a gain of a shield towards the worker (it would need one turn of 4 shields to be efficient anyway), making Poseidon's wf 1, 3 instead of the current 1,7.

Hypnos builds an Archer with another 12 shields, so we can either continue with 8 shields now or move the forest worker at 2 to the roaded plains at 3 for a bonus food and gold (possibly to make up for the gold lost in Poseidon). Thus the wf could go from the current 2, 8, 17, 19 to 3, 8, 17, 19.

All else looks fine stationary, depending on the plan, except Grog, which should probably go 8 or 3 (hill or Mtn, and keeping off PAL's roads at the same time).

Got spare money?

I cant take a look right now but we need soon to get a least one sentinel up north. If we have one great, if not we should get one up there in the next 5 to ten turns.

I dont know about you guys but I want to keep an eye on the northern frontier as the PAL forces start moiving down for the CDG :evil plan:

We have an Archer stationed near meeting Mtn. It can see a PAL warrior to the North and a CDG one a little south. That will do for now, I guess, but perhaps a Hoplite would be better in the future, when we can spare one.

Its a sentinel not a fighter.

A warrior would do. It is ours "eyes on PAL" along any avenues of approach. That way we aren't blind to the north and can see something coming before a SoD is staged just outside one of our cities.

It is also in this case psychological. PAL will see what we are doing, and it will send a signal that we know what we are doing and understand the MP way of doing things.

It appears that CDG built their 4th city this past turn. Good for them. It's unclear on what is happening between CDG and PAL regarding the blockade.

I agree that we need to send a sentinal to the neighborhood, stick him on a mountain, and keep an eye on things up north. Until then, our archer should continue to watch as best as he can, and get us a view from a nearby mountain so we can check the progress of their road.

but as they are actually our cities (just temporarily held by them) I wonder if we should recomend to them a better spacing so we don't get too screwed with lots of unused tiles.

We're going to attack a fortified warrior on a hill (def 1.75) with an Archer (attack 2)?! Sounds a bit risky to me. What about my idea of forcing the barb (attack 1) to attack a hoplite (defense 3.3)?

The odds difference is 56% chance of a win with our Archer attack, and 91% chance of a win with their Warrior attack on a Hoplite. If we let the warrior attack our archer, the odds of our winning are 54%. I don't think attacking with the Archer is worth it where we can get such better odds. The Barb isn't threatening us right now so we can afford to go for the best chances, surely?

Well, it's never a sure thing. I'd feel a bit more comfortable in risking a cheaper archer unit than a more expensive hoplite.

OK, let's appeal to the feel of common sense then. 2 vs 1.75 is risky whereas 3.3 against 1 sounds good to me. To give another example, it's like we're worried about risking a Sword attacking a warrior out in the open because of the cost of the Sword should we lose. That's why we maximise our chances to win a battle, not just minimise the potential losses. If we did that consistently, there'd be no CDG war.

How about a compromise where we leave the warrior where it is until we can agree? It's not threatening anything right now until we want to expand into the area, and I am certainly worried about risking an Archer in an almost 50/50 attack like this. That would just put our military preparation even further back after that loss of the warrior NW of Apolyton to the Barbs. I know the team disagrees with me being in the position of making decisions but please let's not make TWO military blunders in as many months.

I'm hoping that the Barb unfortifies WIA. If not, then I would be in favor of moving in a healthy Hoplite to proke an attack against him. I would not have attacked the Barb fortified on the hill at this difficulty level with an Archer where we get no bonus against them. Like you said, there's really no need to do so since he is not interupting operations. The only reason I moved the Archer in to possibly attack on the following turn is try an get the Archer to Elite status.

OK, sounds fine then.

If you have a unit SE or NW of the barb (not necessarily one tile in that direction) it will go after that unit, no matter what it is. So if you move the Archer S next turn, it should provoke the barb to move off the hills, making him a nice easy target (2 vs 1.1 I can live with ). I haven't tested the barb attack thing at distances greater than one tile, but it should work. If not, then we can send in that Hoplite.

No need to raze them, by the time we get there, the cities will be large enough to be decent. Besides, it's only marginally less dense than ours and the other civ.

It does look like their projected 5th city will rapidally hit size 6 and be stuck until an Aquaduct is built. (In the tundra with all those fish and whales.)
