civilization affiliation/origin Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Hi!

I thought about doing a simple test that should show your affiliation or your origin of the civilization series.
The test should be somewhat amusing and gives the user choices to a certain question that are true for certain civ games and wrong for others. Depending on the answers ticked a percentage value is calculated.

I already have several q/as but need help on some more (especially on ctp).
Here are those that I already have (with the affiliation shown):
Q: To build the Knight you need
A1 (Civ1/Civ2): 40 shields
A2 (Civ3): horses and iron
A3 (CtP): 540 production

Q: Upgrading from Spearmen to Pikemen costs
A1 (Civ3): 40 gc
A2 (Civ2): nothing if you have Leo's Workshop
A3 (Civ1): What are you talking about?
A4 (CtP): ?????

Q: The Musketeer Unit has how many defense?
A1 (Civ3/Ctp): 4
A2 (Civ1/Civ2): 3
A3 (Civ2/Civ3/Ctp): depends on the mo(o)d I am in

Q: To sink a Battleship it takes
A1 (Civ2/Civ3): some cruise missiles
A2 (Civ1): a militia fortified on a mountain
A3 (CtP): a stack of 2 Battleships
A4 (Civ1/Civ2/Civ3): sometimes a whole fleet.. argh damn RNG

Q: Which Unit ignores the effects of City Walls when attacking?
A1 (Civ1): Artillery
A2 (Civ2): Howitzer
A3 (Civ3): That must be ships like the Ironclad
A4 (CtP): City Walls cannot stop space bombardment!

Q: Diplomacy exists to
A1 (Civ3): bargain for resources/technologies/cities/maps, make gifts and create alliances and embargos
A2 (Civ1): demand tribute
A3 (Civ2): trade technologies and form alliances
A4 (Civ3/Ctp): ask em to leave your territory

Q: The Diplomat Unit is useful for
A1 (Civ3): Diplomat Unit?
A2 (Civ2/Ctp): getting expelled
A3 (Civ1): destroying City Walls

Q: AI was coded by
A1 (Civ3): Soren Johnson
A2 (CtP): Ian Lane Davis
A3 (Civ1/Civ2): someone else

I have some simple javascript code already working that does the calculation.

What do you say?

WRONG! The correct answer to Civ1, 2 and 3 is a Phalanx/Spearman.

Suffering from ads?

For CtP (both 1 and 2, but particularly 2), the answer to all questions is "depends on what mod you're using"...

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

MrWhereItsAt I lost so many Battleships to Militias I stopped counting
but yeah probably should be changed to Phalanx since it's often refered to as Phalanx vs Tank Problem.

Though in Civ3 you can't lose a Battleship to a spearman. I don't remember civ2 so well, could you attack land units with sea units there directly?

hmm yeah, but I got that answer for Q3 already. But maybe something like: "200 gold if you are using the Apolyton Pack" or so (I don't know about the numbers).

It would also be nice to have more questions, not all focusing on units.

You could do that but not a single person in the CtP community would probably know such info by heart, precisely *because* there are so many mods.

In Civ2/3 there are maybe a few dozen units and learning the stats by heart happens automatically when you play the game often. With the dozens of mods available to CtP players, you have many hundreds of units to deal with (well, many units are the same but the stats still differ per mod). Noone could probaly learn all those stats by heart if they wanted to...

If you want to test someone's knowledge of CtP, more general questions would be the way to go (Which of the following governments is not in Cradle? What is the mod-selection utility for CtP1 called and who made it? What is the benefit of capturing Slaves? etc.) That would probably work better for Civ1-3 as well, as I've played all Civ-games except Civ3 extensively but I couldn't tell you the cost of a Knight (or equivalent) in any one of them. This is the same principle as CtP mods of course: the more games you play, the less you remember such minor details.

Okay here is an example with some of the changes worked in (download the zip attachment). To work you need to have turned javascript on in your browser.

I think the cruise missile answer is enough to classify this question to civ2/civ3

Same with the Howitzer, I'd like to keep it simple.

Everything! (except actually winning battles, although they can damage enemy units)

I thought only the Spy can damage enemy units?

Steven Spielberg I'll think about that.

Civ1 the answer is 'Diplomat fortified on mountain'.

Civ2 the hp and firepower difference got rid of that problem. The correct answer is actually, 'The enemy never gets battleships by the time I've won', or 'I'm on my way to AC and they're puttering around in caravels. WTF are you talking about?'

For Civ3 the correct answer is 'an ironclad'.

New version. 11 questions

Javascript is good for now. If somehow this can get hosted here in some section...
PHP is nice, but Javascript has improved a lot after the introduction and common implementation of the DOM.

I included a fill random button for testing.
I am awaiting more possible questions.
