Thats right, the imperialistic evil capitalistic yankees are falling - their 10.5 game lead in the east over the Red Sox, the same Red Sox who are the heroes to the working class, and all true Americans, has shrunk to 5.5 games, in the span of one week. With 40 games to go, the the division is OURS>

With $teiny's tendonitis in his hand, his inability to sign new pitchers off of waivers will hurt the ageing yanks chances to go the distance.

The Yankees lost 6 out of 7. This happens, even to very good teams. It happened to the Yankees because of a combination of a) poor pitching, their main weakness, and b) a mini-slump for the offense.

THIS IS THE SAME THING THAT HAPPENED TO THE RED SOX a while back. As I recall, according to you that was the end. I also recall other people telling you to chill and reminding you that it was a long season.

So here we are and things have evened out a bit... and you still haven't got a clue about baseball.

No. Actually, I'm as close to ambivalent about the Yankees (and thus baseball) as I've been in a long time. I don't particularly like this Yankee team, and thus care less about them. If they lose (I fully expect them to get knocked out of the playoffs in the first round), whatever.

They will still probably win the division. What the Sox are doing right now is setting themselves up to take the Wild Card. Which is cool, because I want the Sox to make the playoffs.

and now, with starting pitching getting worked harder than mexican immigrants, their sterling bullpen which was supposed to be resting up for the playoffs will need to continue going out there in losing efforts, to try to keep the game close.

The Yanks starting pitching looks VERY shaky. It hasn't looked this bad since before their amazing run began. If it doesn't get straightened out, Steinbrenner will be angry in October again.

That's alright...now that's we've had 6 straight wins, we needed that loss so that we could stop worrying about when the streak would end.

We're still on top of the Wild Card...right now...and we have 2 more of Blue Jays, 3 against the Tigers, and then the all important series' against Anaheim, Oakland, and Texas.

Oh, and we may be 6 behind the Yanks...but we still have 6 to play against them.

He's a switch hitter who can (supposedly) play all over the infield. Thus, Joe Torre loves him. Joe's a good manager, but he has his faults.

I'd prefer it if Miguel Cairo got 99% of the 2nd base playing time. But Joe will run Enrique out there occasionally and there isn't a thing to be done about it.

Imran - yes, the starting pitching is terrible. Not just shaky. Terrible. Pull up Mike Mussina's stat page on ESPN. The man has an ERA over 5. Vasquez pitched well for a while but lately has been bad. Brown... eh. If he's healthy and pitching against a bad team he looks great. Otherwise (hurting and/or pitching against a contender) he looks like a mediocre 39-yr old pitcher. Jon Lieber is similar, and sure as hell isn't going to scare anyone in the postseason.

The best starting pitcher the Yankees have is El Duque, part duex. That's pretty damning (I love El Duque, but come on!). Thank goodness for Flash & Mo.

Like I said before, unless all of a sudden Mussina, Brown and Vasquez morph back into the pitchers they're supposed to be, the Yanks are due for a 1st round exit.
