I broke out MOO2 again after several years hiatus. I am trying to run it on my Athlon 1.8 with a 19" LCD monitor. The game runs, but clips about 1/4" off the left and right sides of the screen. Very distracting. My monitor has a native resolution of 1280X1024. Anybody know a work around?

did u try changing the resolution of your screen? It sounds more like a graphics card problem though

Yeah, I did change the resolution without effect. My video card is an ATI 9600 Pro.

Thanks to everyone! I'm sure glad my computer is smarter than I am; it appears my Sony monitor has an "Auto" setting I'd overlooked. Selecting it solved my problem: MOO2 looks as it did when I first played it several years ago!
Perhaps the example of my stupidity will help someone in the future....

"I think I am just too old to want the competetiveness that is required (58). I now prefer to take it easy."
There are many players who are older than 40 or 50 years. The oldest player i am aware of is 63 or 64.
And most players take it really easy there. They play the 4ways for fun...and take "interesting" races....
Only a Ladder-1vs1 is really competitive. But not many online players like them because you are forced to play boring races....if u wanna play to improve ur elo score...
