Isometric is in keeping with the map angle.

But if feeling retro or using BeBro cities, I can dig the traditional too.

With few exceptions, those isometric city styles all look like little piles of boxes.

I like isometric, since it makes the cities look like part of the map.

I voted 'depends', I don't think it matters too much as long as it looks good.

P.S. could i please have my erroneous thread deleted

Depends on the artist. Curt is the undoubted master of isometric cities, while BeBro's perspective view cities are peerless. There are also poor renditions in both styles.

The key is consistency of style, as with all civ graphics.

Isometric gives a better feeling of "floating" above the terrain and in my opinion is more realistic than just a 2D representation. Of course artistic ability matters the most.

Not in particular, though I can think of several scenarios that would look better with these swapped in.

Here's a little style I cooked up for a alternate WW1 scenario where the Great War is fought between Romans, Moors, Chinese/Indians, Ottoman/Iranians, Vikings and Incans.

I hope to have a completely original city style for all of the above mentioned civ's. This one, as mentioned in the graphic will be for the Ottoman/Iranian civ.

Note the Blue Mosque of Istanbul.

Isometric are better. Just look more realistic, they fit into the map.
