Why oh why did I do that? Suffering from ads?

Somthing someone said on another board last night made me go "Hey, I haven't played Civ in a while, maybe a should!"

Damn.

It's been about a year since I've touched CIV3, that infernal game, and now I am hooked on it... again.

It was early, wifey was still at work... I didn't stop until 5 hours later!

I had to go down a level from what I was at, in order to get back in the swing of things. However, it is amazing how quick the keyboard commands come flying back to you. At first I was using the mouse for a lot of things, and than I was "waht am I doing?! I can use the keyboard for that." Took about 30 minutes, but I was back to mouseless playing. Had to wrack my brain for about 10 second before I remembered that the F keys did stuff.

Anyway, I'm playing the Japanesse as I normally start on, don't really have a favorite, depends on what type of game I want. I got about have my continent, with the Indians occupying the other half. Why are the Indians always such pansies!? Though the Chinese are a threat, and they really scare me. I forgot how fun this game was!

Any other stories about returing to this game after a long hiatus would be great... thanks

Or any time just before the 'wifey' catches you or ones chores go undone over long.

P.S. The addicted usually do not put down welcome mats; it is embarrassing. Were you having a nice life this last year? Did you do anything new, exciting, and meaningful? Learn a long wanted skill perhaps? Not as intelligent as when you last left? But hope to get better soon?

Well I have been addicted since before CIV1, when I was so much younger (gosh, I remember playing something similiar in my old sand box). What was it like, NOT playing for a WHOLE year?

Best Regards,
...a heavy user

I just came back to Aployton & Civ after taking more than a year off. I'm still playing Civ2, but I understand what you are saying.

I'm sitting at work all week plotting how to crush the Mongols and Spanish as soon as I get home. Right now I should be mopping and cleaning for a BBQ tonight at our house. But where am I? Apolyton looking for Civ2 tips and news of Civ3 Complete.

Oh I'm hooked.

Careful. Civ has been known to cause sleeplessness, hunger, and divorce.

I've been out since conquests came out... I have trouble finding the time or the patience now, so i've been on games that are easier to jump in and out of.

In the fact this forum is about my limit now

He's free, he's free!! Look at em, leaving us behind in the dregs of a leftover, forlorn, degraded bastard child of Firaxis… new baby on the way, guess the few getting fewer go it more alone, yet alone. Not to worry, I discovered yet another editor feature (under utilized) that I have to test out! Piles of smiles, just think, it may play different if not even better this time around.
