Excuse me but when did I say their was only one way to be black, any individual can have any political persuasion they wish. Its the use of minority candidates by the Republican party that I find objectionable. Puting out a prominent minority candidate that hold views 180 degrees from what the magority of their group express is a blatant atempt at exploiting both them and the general publics ignorance.
When people with no political knowlage see Condelesa Rice they will asume because of her gender and race that she is more moderate then she realy is and thus the administration is moderate and inclusive of minorities and the isshues they care for. This couldn't be further from the truth and the maintance of the lie depends on people ignorance and predjidice. The Black republicans ofcorse want this to happen their republicans after all anything thats good for the party is desirable so they are eager for it. Their not Uncle Tom or any such thing, its the atempt to project a false image which I find detestable, not the idea that someone is a "traitor" or a "sell out".
And as I pointed out Minorities arn't fooled by the trick, blacks supported Gore 90% vs a Republican president with not one 2 blacks in the highest levels of goverment. So if republicans are not trying or atleast not succeding at tricking blacks themselves into voting Republican who are they trying to trick. Moderate whites ofcorse, ones who care about racial integration and would be turned off by signs of overt bigotry (unfortunatly these same individuals may not be savy enough to actualy do the reserach to realize whats underneath). Democrates stand by their long record of support for civil rights and afirmitive action, its whats on the inside that counts for them. In contrast the republican party simply tries to make itself LOOK like the people who wont vote for them. Black conservatives are intentialy pushed to the forfront and apointed to prominent positions to maximize their visability.
As people catch on to the tactic and learn to judge people as individuals and not make asumptions about their politicas from their skin color the tactic will be incressingly less effective, in the meantime Republicans are simply exploiting prejidice to mislead people as to their political intents.
